"Ang Pag-ibig Sa Tinubuang Lupa" by Andres Bonifacio.

1.What does the document/artifact say?

The artifact talks about the love that Filipinos should give for the country in which to take
care and protect it like themselves. Loving a country is to desire to make it the best version of
itself, to accept and appreciate it without hesitation. If we love our country then we do not only
think about ourselves, that’s how a country and its people became one. Throughout the failure
and success that may happen in the country, Filipinos should work together to create a
community because everything can be solved if we facing it together. It taught Filipinos to be
patriotic because when we feel patriotic about our country, we are better placed to stand and rise
against the differences that dent our country. We have to love, praise, and fight for our own
country as we are committed to it.

2.What was the provenance or source of the document/artifact?

“Pag-ibig Sa Tinubuang Lupa” was written by Andres Bonifacio, it was published in


Kalayaan on March 1896 above the initials “A. I. B.” that stands for “Agapito Bagumbayan,”in
which shows contribution to wake Filipinos in reality. During Spaniard colonization, Filipinos
have no unity and no proper goverment that made Spaniards to become that powerful as they
owe Philippines back then. If Filipinos were going to fight, Spaniards will bring a Filipino tribe
to conquer their fellow Filipinos. Spaniards used Filipino against Filipino. The situation made
Bonifacio to write a poem that symbolizes the love for the country and to stop fellow Filipinos to
fight each other while giving honor to Spanish that never been the owner of this land, Bonifacio
encourage Filipinos to unite against Spaniards and bring back the land that they owned in the
first place.

3.Who authored it?(if applicable)

Andres Bonifacio wrote a poem entitled “Pag-ibig Sa Tinubuang Lupa” as an


encouragement for the Filipinos to be patriotic. Bonifacio wrote it with different feelings such as
anger, hatred, resentment and doubt as the country during that time experienced worst to the
point they lose hope to recover. “Pag-ibig Sa Tinubuang Lupa” was an inspiration and
motivation for Filipinos to achieve real Philippine Independence.
