LISTENING

Directions: Explain the following questions briefly in 3-4 sentences.

1. LISTENING IS A SKILL WHICH MAY REQUIRE CRITICAL THINKING? YES OR NO? WHY?

Yes, I believe that listening is a skill which requires critical thinking. Listening without critical
thinking is nothing. We were not able to digest, analyze, and understand what really is the person is
saying if we are just going to listen. But listening with the use of critical thinking is far different from
without. This is because listening together with the use if critical thinking makes us understand things
deeply, and because we understand it deeply, there is a higher chance of the information's we were
able to listen will retain forever in our mind. This is because we just did not listen to it, but instead, we
tend to analyze and critically understand what a person is saying, and I think that what makes listening
a useful skill.

2. GIVE ONE (1) IMPORTANCE OF LISTENING AND EXPLICATE. YOU CAN CITE A SCENARIO OF YOUR
CONVERSATION TO YOUR CLASSMATE OR FRIEND.

Listening allows a person to understand a thought or an idea deeply rather than its natural
meaning only. For example, I am listening to my teacher, and because while I am listening, I am also
using my critical thinking skills, all of the information's my teacher was able to discuss, I understand it
very well even without reviewing it. This is because all of the information's have already retained to my
mind with the use of listening and critical thinking skills

3. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF LISTENING AND HOW IT IS IMPERATIVE TO YOU AS A STUDENT?

I think listening plays an important role especially nowadays. Students like me have their
classes performed online, and listening is a skill which allows every one of us to be able to adopt things
easily. As we listen, we also tend to understand every little detail, every bit of ideas our professors
have taught us. And because we listen and we tried so hard to understand with the use of critical
thinking, we passed each test or exams our professor gives us. This is the importance and the benefit
of listening. Because of listening, we tend to gather information's which is beneficial for we can use it
in a worthy way. Listening is not just listening itself. It should always be performed seriously with the
use of critical thinking, because a listening without a critical thinking is just a waste of time.
