Exam Practice G v1 - 0120
Try and do it without looking up answers and do it in the recommended time. If you are happy working
on screen, you can do these tasks straight into Word. If you prefer paper and pencil, do the task under
timed conditions and then type it into Word to upload it (without changing anything). We ask for it in
Word and not scanned in as then tutors can comment on things electronically.
Save and name the document with your name e.g. exampracticeG_henrywiddowson
The text for this task is reproduced on the next page. It is a transcript of a conversation of

Look at the pictures that show different places to eat. Do you like
these different places to eat? Say why or why not. Talk together.
Focusing on the areas listed below, identify a total of four key strengths and weaknesses

and one weakness in your answer.
The text for this task is reproduced on the next two pages. It is being used in the following
situation.
Kim and Nahm are two dyslexic learners who study English to further
improve their language proficiency, which they need mainly for travelling
and socialising. They completed a pre-intermediate (A2/B1) General
English course at a private language centre. They decided to continue to
the next level but change to an intermediate (B1+) Conversational English
course. The centre’s policy is that all learners need to complete a test to
establish whether they can continue or not. The test they have been given
was designed for dyslexic learners and based on the last five units of a
pre-intermediate (A2/B1) course book they used on their course.
Using your knowledge of relevant testing concepts, evaluate the effectiveness of the tasks in
this test for these learners in this situation.
Make a total of six points. You must include both positive and negative points.
