t seems appropriate, as we begin the new year, to urge MMI readers to be wise and
subscribe to save time and money! For UK readers at present a single issue of MMI costs
£4.95, which multiplied by twelve is £59.40. A subscription, on the other hand, currently
costs £49.50, which is a saving of almost £10.00 over the year. These savings also apply
to international subscribers and solve any issues you might have in obtaining your favourite
modelling titles. I am familiar with several specious arguments offered against subscriptions,
and recent marketplace experiences with other publishers may have prejudiced some against
parting with their cash up front, but Guideline Publications have not only made it through the
best part of two years of pandemic-related chaos without missing an issue, but we have also
added new titles to our catalogue and now cover aircraft, armour, railways, trucks, cars, and
more. Moreover, the £49.50 cost of a year’s UK subscription is cheaper than a newly released
1/35-scale kit, so instead of piling up three of the latest releases with excellent intentions, just

Guideline Publications loft! Finally, and on a more serious note, bear in mind the current economic situation, which
david@guidelinepublications.co.uk is heading downhill at a rate of knots. As the cost of printing materials goes up, magazines
will have little choice but to follow. Cover prices may have to increase, but if you have a
subscription in hand, it won’t affect the magazines you will already have paid for, and you’ll get
them delivered to your door in advance of the newsstands. It makes sense to me, so visit www.

This month’s issue contains another bumper crop of modelling and armour-related content
covering the Great War to contemporary forces. Beginning with World War I, Ilya Yut builds
Copper State Models’ new 1/72 Lancia 1ZM armoured car. Sticking with small scale and
weapons of the Great War, Stefan Szymanski returns with Hauler’s beautiful Skoda howitzer.
For fans of World War II armour, I’m delighted to welcome Russian modeller Nikolay Grinev to
these pages with Bronco Models’ M24 Chaffee. Sergey Osipov returns with Trumpeter’s
L4500A with 3.7cm, while Özgur Güner concludes his Dragon T-34/76 with a lesson in basic
painting and weathering techniques. Another new name, Fabio Mosca, debuts in MMI with a
stunning build of Dragon’s StuG III based closely on a period photo taken at Cassino in Italy
after the great battle there in 1944. Staying in the Italian theatre, Thomas Anderson concludes
his Armour in Profile article on Italian AFVs in German service. Moving to modern armour,
we welcome back Kreangkrai Paojinda who builds Hobbyboss’s early IDF Nagmachon heavy
APC. Finally, Ralph Zwilling brings us bang up to date with a reference article on the latest
iteration of the Leopard 2, the Bundeswehr’s new Leopard 2A7V. Until next month, stay safe
and happy modelling.
