Quiz VI
EE – 17B
Time allowed: 12 min Max. marks: 20
Instructions:
Few of the questions may make use of below-mentioned variables from 𝑟1 to 𝑟9 , where 𝑟1 is the first digit of
your registration number and 𝑟9 is the last digit of your registration number. You are instructed to carefully
choose the numerical values according to your registration number. An assumed registration number is given
below for your reference:

1 2 0 1 0 1 0 0 7

𝑟1 𝑟2 𝑟3 𝑟4 𝑟5 𝑟6 𝑟7 𝑟8 𝑟9

[CLO-02, C4, PLO-01]
Consider a continuous-time signal:
𝜋 𝜋
𝑥(𝑡) = 𝐴 cos (2𝜋𝐹1 𝑡 − ) + 𝐵 cos (2𝜋𝐹2 𝑡 + ) − 𝐶 cos(2𝜋𝐹3 𝑡).
6 4
The signal is sampled with a sampling frequency 𝐹𝑠 to generate a discrete-time signal 𝑥[𝑛].
(a) Plot the complete spectrum of the continuous-time signal.
(b) Plot the complete spectrum of the discrete-time signal.
(c) Assuming ideal reconstruction, solve (write equation) for the re-constructed continuous-time signal 𝑥̂(𝑡).
NOTE:
Choose the values of 𝐴, 𝐵, 𝐶, 𝐹1 , 𝐹2 , 𝐹3 of your own choice. Choose sampling frequency as follows:
➢ 𝐹1 < 𝐹𝑠 < 𝐹2 , if 𝑟8 + 𝑟9 is divisible by 3.
➢ 𝐹2 < 𝐹𝑠 < 𝐹3 , if 𝑟8 + 𝑟9 + 1 is divisible by 3.
➢ 𝐹𝑠 = 𝐹2 , if 𝑟8 + 𝑟9 + 2 is divisible by 3.
Matching of even a single frequency component, in two or more submitted solutions, will be considered
as “copied solution(s)”. To avoid this, assume as random frequencies as you can.
