Working hrs/year

No. of Relievers needed= No. of personnel x 0.095

Total Nursing personnel needed =

Percentage of patients in Various levels of Care
Type of Hospital Minimal Moderate care Intensive Highly Spl.
Care Care Care
Primary hospital 70 25 5 -
Secondary hospital 65 30 5 -
Tertiary hospital 30 45 15 10
Special tertiary 10 25 45 20
hospital

2.
300 x .30 = 90 patients needing minimal care
300 x .45 =135 patients needing moderate care
300 x.15 = 45patients needing special care
300 x.10=30 need highly specialized nursing care
Total: 300 patients
3.
90 patients x 1.5= 135(NCH needed at Level 1) =135 NCH/day
135 patients x 3= 405 (NCH needed at Level II) =405 NCH/day
45patients x 4.5= 202.5(NCH needed at Level III) =202.5 NCH/day
30 patients x 6= 180 (NCH needed at level IV)180 = NCH/day

Total:922.5 NCH/Day

4. 922.5 NCH/Day x 365 days/ years =336, 712.5 NCH/Year

5. 48hours/week – 2144 working hours per year

6.336, 712.5NCH/ year =157

2144 hours/year
157x 0.095 = 14
157 + 6 =163 – needed personnel
7. 73 x .70= 51-professional nurses
73 x .30= 21-nursing attendants
8. Distribute by shifts:
Nurses:

a) 51 x .45= 22 am shift
b) 51 x .37= 18 pm shift
c) 51x .18= 9-night shift

Total: 49 nurses

Nursing attendants
a) 21 x .45= 9 am shift
b) 21 x .37= 7 pm shift
c) 21 x.18 = 3-night shift

Total: 19 nursing attendants
