CHAPTER I: SUMMARY OF PROJECT

1.1 Name of Firm: KleanOut Brick and Tiles

A brick and tile manufacturing firm using plastic waste as main component
in making pavement bricks, artificial granite and synthetic marble products
used in building pavement roads, walk ways and also in indoor flooring
and tiled roofing.

The name KleanOut came about because of the company’s mission

 To help the community and government to collect plastic waste material

especially plastic bags and PET bottles to reduce carbon foot print

 Minimized pollution and reduced the amount of plastic bag waste in our
water ways that clogged drain pipes and cause flooding.

 Produce alternative building products using waste materials as its main

component
1.2 Location: Bulacan

The firm needed a location that can do the highest impact to the
community as far as conservation, recycling and collection of waste plastic
material is concern. Bulacan seems to be the best choice in terms of
geographical location,

 Low lying , floods are seen in many areas,

 Near Metro Manila
 Supportive Local Government in environmental conservation
 Huge space for storage and collection facilities

1.3 Project Description

The project is about environmental conservation and introduction of

alternative building materials that can compete with traditional commercial
products.

Main objectives are

 To promote and help communities to collect and reduce plastic

waste
 To generate employment

The tile is consist of 40% waste plastic bag

1.4 Project Highlights

Introduction of alternative building materials to a traditional yet

conservative construction industry, while keeping the environment clean is
not an easy task.

Much of the products in the market used in construction are made using
materials coming from the earth itself. This means raw materials extracted
in mines and quarries.

The high cost of mining these materials is not only financial but also
environmental, in addition processing them to make the final brick or tile
takes a lot of energy. Factories needed to use huge kiln or oven to harden
the bricks or tiles that consume huge amount of fuel to produce the right
amount of heat needed.

To find new sources of materials that little or no impact to the environment

which is readily available and can be acquired with little cost as possible
seems to be an impossible task.

Using waste plastic materials like plastic bags and PET bottles to make
bricks and tiles will not only give new and cheap raw materials but will also
help in keeping our environment clean. It’s readily available and often
discarded to the streets that causes clog in our floodway system that
eventually end up polluting the ocean, affecting all marine life like fishes
and other species, most of them harvested by many and consumed as
food.
The milestones of this project are as follows

 Introduction of new alternative building products with the same

quality but not as expensive as traditional construction supplies in
the market today
 Generate employment opportunities
 Initiate collaboration between environmental groups, the community
and the government in managing pollution
 Educate communities about the importance of recycling and
environment conservations
