Floor Plan give the top ceiling view of house .

The main aspect to keep in mind while

designing floor plan is about the interior accessories and open spaces over the
area.Floor plan is use to provide the space suitable for intended purpose,if it not meet
the requirement arrangement is to be done. Using AutoCAD for Floor planning is
generally used to create a 2D model of the floor.Sometime Floor planning is also used
for interior design in the sector of architect .It is a blueprints, or construction-ready
drawings, with technical information used at building site.

Floor plans are scale drawings that show the relationship between rooms, spaces and
physical features viewed from above. They provide a way to visualize how people
will move through the space. Floor plans makes it easier to check if the space is
suitable for its intended purpose, work through any potential challenges and redesign
before moving forward into more elaborate planning or building stages. It can be fun,
too, to experiment with different design alternatives and circulation flows, which
show how people move through the space.
Noted architect Jean Nouvel said, “Space, space:
architects always talk about space! But creating a
space is not automatically doing architecture. With
the same space, you can make a masterpiece or
cause a disaster.” That’s why from Tiny Houses to
making a convention flow smoothly for attendees, a
floor plan is the place to begin creating and
diagramming a logical space based on end user
requirements.
Dimensions are usually drawn between the walls to
specify room sizes and wall lengths. Floor plans
may also include details of fixtures like sinks, water
heaters, furnaces, etc. Floor plans may include notes for construction to specify
finishes, construction methods, or symbols for electrical items.

Purpose:

A floor plan is not a top view or birds eye view. It is a measured drawing to scale of
the layout of a floor in a building. A top view or bird's eye view does not show an
orthogonal projected plane cut at the typical four foot height above the floor level. A
floor plan could show:

 interior walls and hallways

 restrooms
 windows and doors
 appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, water heater etc.
 interior features such as fireplaces, saunas and whirlpools
 the use of all rooms

Floor Plans vs Building plans:

Floor plans show the big picture of living, work, and outdoor spaces. Although they
should be scale drawings, floor plans don’t hold enough information for builders to
actually construct a home or other structure. Instead, a floor plan is essentially a
simple diagram showing room layout and offering a conceptual starting point. A
builder needs complete blueprints, or construction-ready drawings, with technical
information that you will not find on most floor plans.

Steps to creating floor plans

Whether you are using paper, pencil, and graph paper to help you scale, or an online
program to draw up your floor plan, there are some essential steps and items that go
into the creation of a solid diagram:

 List requirements: Make a thorough list of the needs and wants of those who
will occupy the space
 Measure: Make sure you have the correct measurements, so you may want to
measure twice. What to measure:
 Outside walls or footprint of your space, any doorways or entries, and
windows.
 The walls from side to side and from the floor to the ceiling.
 Where the electrical outlets, switches, and other controls are located.
 Permanent fixtures: any and all architectural features, including fireplaces,
brackets, shelves, benches, and any other built-in features.
 Surrounding space and outside or overall dimensions of these items, and then
locate each on your plan.
 Objects that will be inside the space.
 Scale: Floor plans should be drafted to scale, which means reducing the size of
your drawing so the entire space can reasonable fit on a piece of paper or screen.
A common scale is 1/4 inch = 1 foot. This same scale should be applied to objects
like furniture or exhibit booths that will be included in the floor plan.
 Think about sight-lines: Standing, sitting, or working what do you want to see?
Think about windows, doorways, walls and what makes the most sense for the
purposes you intend for the space.
 Render it: With all the components in mind, organize your floor plan.
 Evaluate: Review the wants and needs list. Evaluate the spatial arrangement
including analyzing circulation. Other factors include usable space, privacy, and
accessibility. Learn more here about evaluating space planning and design in
residential spaces.
 Share. Collaborate and have someone else look over your floor plan to get
helpful feedback to double-check your thinking and design.
Introduction

Autocad package is suitable for accurate and perfect drawings of engineering designs.
The drawing of machine parts, isometric views and assembly drawings are possible in
auto cad. The package is suitable for 2d and 3d drawings.

The word AutoCAD is made up of two word Auto which means logo of company and
CAD which means Computer aided design.AutoCAD is 2D and 3D modelling
software. It is developed by Autodesk company. It is widely used in industry for 2D
drawing and 3D modelling.Another way we can say that AutoCAD is a designing
course which is performed by the help of computer.
Some of its tool are:

LINE: Line used to create a series of contiguous line segment .Each is a line object
that can be edited separately.
POLYLINE: Polyline is a connected sequence of segments created as a single planar
object you can create straight line segment arc segment or of the two.

CIRCLE: Create a circle using a centre point and the radius. Its different method are:
ARC: Create an Arc using the start point ,centre and end point. Its different method
are:

DIMENSION: Create multiple types of dimension within a single command session.

UNIT: Unit used to you decide the unit of project.

DIMENSION STYLE MANAGER: Using dimension style manager you can

modify the dimension style, view and other part.
MOVE: Move object a specified distance in a specified direction.

TRIM: Trim object to meet the edge of the other object.

MIRROR: Creates a mirrored copy of a selected object.

LAYER: Managed layer and layer property.

BLOCK: Create a block definition from a selected object.

PLOT: Plot is use to plot the AutoCAD project into a A4 size paper,or in other
format.
The step we use to draft then Floor Plan in AutoCAD 2D are as follows :

Step 1 : Set the UNITS for project in feet and inches.

Step 2 : Draw the outer dimension of floor plan using RECTANGLE commond of
required length.
Step 3 : Using OFFSET commond, draw the inner rectangle at a distance of 9”and
explode it.

Step 4 : For drawing first horizontal wall take OFFSET of lower horizontal line of
inner rectangle at a distance of 13’10.5”.
.Step 5 : Draw second horizontal inner wall take OFFSET of upper horizontal line of
inner rectangle at a distance of 5’3”.

Step 6 : Draw first vertical inner wall take OFFSET of left vertical line of inner
rectangle at a distance of 19’-3”.
Step 7 : Similarly,Draw 2nd and 3rd vertical inner wall take OFFSET of right vertical
line at a distance of 20’-3” & 14’-3” respectively.

Step 8 : Remove the unwanted extension of line using TRIM commond as given in
project.
Step 9 : Provide width of inner wall of 4.5”.

Step 10 : Create LAYER for window and door,for blocks,for hatching,for dimension.
Step 11 : Draw the door1 of required dimension with circle quadrant and door frame
and create BLOCK for it.

Step 12 : Similarly create BLOCK for door2,for window1(8’*9”),for

window2(8’*4.5”).
Step 13 : Move the door and window at required position and required direction
using MOVE & ROTATE commond.

Step 14 : Goto DESIGN CENTER,click on home icon ,goto en-us folder and open the
Home space planner & choose what is required(i.e. bed queen,plant,table,3-seater
round back sofa,dining set)
Step 15 : Go back to Design Center ,goto Kitchen & choose what is required (i.e.
sink,dishwasher,refrigerator,range oven) .

Step 16 : Go back to Design Center ,goto House designer & choose what is required
(i.e. bath tub,toilet top,sink oval top) .
Step 17 : Move these accessories at required position in required direction using
MOVE and ROTATE commond .

Step 18 : Checkout dimension of project to ensure that it is correct or not.

Step 19 : Further finish the floor plan by naming the room and by HATCHING.

Floor Plans are a key element in a complete set of architectural drawings.Clients are
interested in floor plans so they can see how the structure is laid out.A large variety of
symbols and drawing techniques go into preparing a floor plan. One of the challenge
to AutoCAD about floor plan is to include all the necessary symbols and notes needed.
It is useful to user to trace accurately about the spatial area of plans.
