POTATOES &
ONIONS:
Potatoes and onions

should not be stored

together.
Onions and potatoes both

release moisture, which

might cause them to spoil

more quickly. It's ideal to

keep them separate in a

well-ventilated, dry, and

cold environment.

POTATOES
Uncooked potatoes should

be kept cold and dry, but

not in the refrigerator.

Refrigerating potatoes can

increase the amount of

sugar in them and cause

increased amounts of a

chemical called

acrylamide.

in the refrigerator.

ONIONS
Regular Onions should be stored

in a cool, dry, dark, and well-

ventilated area.

Let's avoid storing whole onions

in the fridge

When entire onions are kept in

the refrigerator, they are

exposed to cold, damp

environments. They are prone to

becoming mushy and spoiling

because to their high moisture

absorption.

Other vegetables must be refrigerated. To prevent drying

they should be kept covered or wrapped.

Peeled and cut vegetables should be covered or

wrapped, and use quickly to prevent spoilage.

Do not refreeze thawed vegetables.

Packages of the same type

of food should be kept
together in one area.

Newer foods should be placed
behind older goods towards
the rear of the shelf, with the
oldest food in the most

front of the shelf.

ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS
1. How do you store vegetables in your household?

We store most of our vegetables in the

refrigerator because it helps them live and last
longer. Now that I'd completed this task, I knew
what I needed to do and how to properly store
vegetables. I was now aware that onions and
potatoes should not be kept in the refrigerator,
and that they should not be combined.

ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS
2. Do you apply FIFO system in storing your food
Yes, I can say that we employ the FIFO system
when it comes to storing food since we keep our
food organized. I'll admit that we don't always
follow the FIFO system when especially when we're
cooking, and some people don't notice they're
making a mess and aren't organized while they're
cooking or doing something in the kitchen, but we
follow FIFO system when we arrange it. Containers
of the same type of food should be stored together
in one location, just as they should be kept
together in one area and some food in our
refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage are
marked with a use-by date and expiration date.

ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS

3.What are the negative effects of improper food

storage?
Improper food storage has a number of negative
effects, it includes food spoilage, growth of
germs and molds, and even food loss. When we
don't store our foods correctly, they rot or
spoil and we waste food that could have been
consumed if we had stored it properly. We must
always ensure that food is not wasted because
not everyone can eat and not everyone can buy
foods or vegetables like some of us do.

ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS

4.What is the importance of proper food storage?

The importance of proper food storage is
that we're preventing food waste and food
spoilage and proper food storage preserves
the freshness of the items we buy. Our
money will not be wasted if we store our
food correctly since we will know that the
food we purchased did not deteriorate or
spoil. \We will be able to make the food last
longer.
