4. Heat is generated in a large plate (k=0.8 W/m -°C) at the rate of 4000 W/m3. The plate
is 25 cm thick. The outside surfaces of the plate are exposed to ambient air at 30°C

5. Find the temperature distribution and heat transfer through an iron fin of thickness 5
mm, length 50 mm and width 1000 mm. The heat transfer coefficient around the fin is
10 W/m2-K and ambient temperature is 280C. The base of the fin is at 1080C. Take
K=50 W/m-K. Use two elements.
