I. Brief Overview
a. What is the Cavite Mutiny?
The Cavite Mutiny is an event in Philippine history where it is about the Spanish government
killed the three Filipino Martyrs Priest because of false accusation of treason. They were
punished by using Garrote. This event was the reason why all Filipino becomes more aware
and reason why Rizal start to write against to the Spaniards.

b. What is the general event that lead the martyr doomed of the Gomburza?
Event 1:
The Cavite mutiny was established by the natives of Cavite to get rid of the Spanish
violent leadership. The Spaniards thought that the GOMBURZA was the mastermind of
the rebellion.

Event 2:
Mariano Gomez, Jose Burgos and Jacinto Zamora were punished to death because they
were accused of treason.

Event 3:
The Spanish prosecutors bribed someone to witness that GOMBURZA was guilty of
treason and sedition.

officers.Fearing a general uprising, the Spanish government in Manila sent a regiment under

including Sgt. LaMadrid were killed. Later, others were sentenced to death or hard laborb.

Mariano Gómes de los Ángeles, often referred to by his original birth name Mariano Gómez de los
Ángeles, was a Filipino Catholic priest, who was falsely accused of mutiny by the Spanish colonial
authorities in the Philippines in the 19th century.

José Apolonio Burgos y García was a Filipino Catholic priest, accused of mutiny by the Spanish
colonial authorities in the Philippines in the 19th century. He was tried and executed in Manila
along with two other clergymen, Mariano Gomez and Jacinto Zamora, who are collectively known
as the Gomburza.

Jacinto Zamora y del Rosario (14 August 1835 – 17 February 1872) was a Filipino Catholic priest,
part of the Gomburza, a trio of priests who were falsely accused of mutiny by the Spanish colonial
authorities in the Philippines in the 19th century.
