1. The circumference of the base of a cylinder is 88 cm and its height is 15 cm. 2


Find the volume of the cylinder.

2. A rectangular strip 25 cm x 7 cm is rotated about the longer side. Find the 3


total surface area of the solid thus generated.

3. The ratio between the curved surface area and the total surface area of a 3
right circular cylinder is 1: 2. Prove that its height and radius are equal.

4. If V is the volume of the cuboid of dimensions a, b, c and S is its surface area,


then prove that : 3

5. A hollow garden roller, 63 cm wide with a girth of 440 cm, is made of 4 cm


thick iron. Find the volume of the iron. 3

6. Two cubes, each of volume 512 cm3 are joined end to end, find the surface
area of the resulting cuboid. 4

7. A field is 150 m long and 100 m wide. A plot (outside the field) 50 m long and
30 m wide is dug to a depth of 8 m and the earth taken out from the plot is 4
spread evenly in the field. By how much the level of field is raised?

8. What length of a solid cylinder 2 cm in diameter must be taken to recast into


a hollow cylinder of length 16 cm, external diameter 20 cm and thickness 2.5 4
mm?

9. A solid cylinder has a total surface area of 231 cm2. Its curved surface area is 4
2/3 of the total surface area. Find the volume of the cylinder.
