XI. READ ALOUD. READ THE FOLLOWING TEXT SEVERAL TIMES. NOTICE HOW THE VERB
CHANGES IN THE THIR PERSON SINGULAR (SHE) . REMEMBER THAT IT ALSO APPLIES TO
“HE” AND “IT”, BUT IN THIS EXAPLE WE ARE USING “SHE”.

READ THE TEXT OUT LOUD, AND RECORD YOUR VOICE WHILE YOU READ. SEND THE
RECORDING TO YOUR TEACHER.

MY SISTER AND I ARE DIFFERENT.

A lot of people say that my sister Anny and I have similar personalities . But I disagree with that. We are
quite different in many ways. Even though we have a lot of things in common, we have very different habits,
and we have a different taste for many things. For instance, I like Rock music. But my sister likes country
music. I work as a teacher, but she works as a nurse. I watch TV sometimes, but she watches TV every night.

On the other hand, I wash my bike twice a week. She washes her bike once a week. I go to church every
Sunday. She goes to church sometimes. I dance some kinds of music. But she dances all kinds of music. I
study Architecture at UASD, she studies accounting at UTESA. I teach my son how to play the piano. She
teaches her son how to play guitar. I teach my son how to cook. She teaches her son how to keep the house
clean. When I go to work, I catch the 7:00 A.M. train. However, when she goes to work , she catches the
10:00 A.M. train.

Teacher: Braunis Taveras, 2014.

PART II RECODRING 2

As you can see, we are not that similar .What people say it not true at all. And I can tell you more. For
example. I live in an apartment, but my sister lives in a house. I write letters to my friends from time to time.
She writes letters to her friends all the time. I always wake up at 6:00 A.M. She wakes up at 9:00 A.M . I
usually have lunch at noon. She usually has lunch at 1:00 P.M. I do the laundry every Saturday. She does the
laundry every Thursday.

In the same way, there are many other things that we do differently. Like , for example, I do the dishes in the
morning. However, she does the dishes at night. I take a shower three times a day. She takes a shower twice
a day. While I chat with my friends on Whatsapp in the evenings. She chats with her friends on Whatsapp
in the afternoon. I watch movies on Netflix. She watches movies on TV. I go shopping on Sundays. She goes
shopping on Fridays. For those reasons is that I believe that she and I are really different. Do you agree with
me.? What do you think? How different are you and your sister? In which ways are you different from each
other? What about you and your brother? What about you and your father?.
