Antonio Luna
- A pharmacist who was banished by the Spaniards to Spain. Most of his
works dealt with Filipino customs and others were accusations about how
the Spaniards ran the government. He joined propaganda movement which
he contributed his writings to LA SOLIDARIDAD

JOSE CORAZON DE JESUS

- He was popularly known as Huseng Batute. He was a Filipino poet who

to 1946, and He was called as the Poet of Love in his time.

IÑIGO ED. REGALADO

- He was a son of a popular writer during the Spanish time known as


Odalger. He also became a popular story-teller, novelist and newspaperman.
He proved that he not only followed the footsteps of his father but also
reached the peak of his success by the “sumpong” (whim) of his pen.

Patricio Geronimo Mariano


- Mariano was the son of Petronilo Mariano and Dionisia Geronimo. He was
a Filipino nationalist, revolutionary, pundit, poet, playwright, dramatist,
short story writer, novelist, journalist, violinist, and painter.

Epifanio de los Santos

- He was known as Don Panyong. He was a good leader and biographer


during the whole period of Spanish literature. He was a noted Filipino
historian, journalist, and civil servant. Epifanio was a young associate editor
of the revolutionary paper "La Independencia"(1898), writing in prose under
the pen name G. Solon and also a member of the Malolos Congress.

- He was a Filipino playwright, poet, journalist, and revolutionary. His works

Francisco Balagtas y de la Cruz

- He commonly known as Francisco Balagtas and also as Francisco Baltasar,


was a prominent Filipino poet during the Spanish colonial period of the
Philippines. He is widely considered one of the greatest Filipino literary
laureates for his impact on Filipino literature. The famous epic Florante at
Laura is regarded as his defining work.

Nemesio E. Caravana

- He was a Filipino film director and actor. He made a film acting debut in a
1939 Filipino literature story Florante at Laura[1] under Salumbides Co Ltd.
He made another two movies as an actor in Sampaguita Pictures' musical
Magbalik ka Hirang (Come Back, Darling) and another musical from
Salumbides Pictures, Krisantemo (Chrysanthemum).

- was a Filipino statesman, jurist, poet and one of the foremost statesmen
of his generation.

Nick Joaquin
- He was well known as a historian of the brief Golden Age of Spain in the
Philippines, as a writer of short stories suffused with folk Roman
Catholicism, as a playwright, and as a novelist. Joaquin wrote his works in
English.
- Nick Joaquin was able to publish a large body of literary works during his
time and through this, he has had great contribution to Philippine literature
in English.

Pedro Alejando Paterno

- The so-called peacemaker of the Revolution. Paterno's greatest


contribution to the country was his role as a mediator in the Pact of Biak-na-Bato on
December 14, 1897 which led to peace agreement between the Spaniards and the
Filipinos, an account of which he published in 1910.

Alejandro G. Abadilla

- Commonly known as AGA, was a Filipino poet, essayist, and fiction writer.
Critic referred to Abadilla as the father of modern Philippine poetry, and was
known for challenging established forms and literature's "excessive
romanticism and emphasis on rhyme and meter".

- was a multi-awarded Tagalog fictionist, journalist, radio scriptwriter and
editor from the Philippines. Arceo authored a number of well-received

Bienvinido Santos

- was a Filipino-American fiction, poetry and nonfiction writer. He was born


and raised in Tondo, Manila. He lived in the United States for many years

Cirilo F. Bautista
- A poet, fictionist and essayist with exceptional achievements and
significant contributions to the development of the country’s literary arts.

Magdalena Gonzaga Jalandoni

- As a Filipino feminist writer. She is now remembered as one of the most


prolific Filipino writers in the Hiligaynon language. Hailing from Western Visayas, her

- Commonly known as Marcelo H. Del Pilar and also known by his pen name

leaders of the Reform Movement in Spain.

the National Scientist Award for his contribution to Philippine
