A Semi-detailed Lesson Plan in Science for Grade 8

I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
1. List the Electrical devices at home
2. Explain the function of other safety at homes
3. Explain the importance of some electrical devices at home.

II. LEARNING CONTENT


A. Topic: Functions of circuit breakers, fuses, earthing, double insulation, and other safety
devices at home
B. Reference: Science 8 Learner’s Module, Science 8 Teacher’s Module
C. Instructional Materials: illustrations and pictures, Improvised whiteboard and marker,
PowerPoint Presentation
D. Values Integration: Active participation, hands-on Learning, teamwork

III. LEARNING EXPERIENCE


Drill: Post manila paper containing a format as their basis for the quiz.
Review: Conduct a dyad quiz regarding to the previous topic.
Questions:
1. Explain at least two advantages and disadvantages of series and parallel connections in
home.
Motivation: Let students play a game called CONNECT TIME!
Activity:
a. Provide standards for the group activity
b. Giving the mechanics of the activity.
b.1 Read and follow the instructions carefully.
b.2 Do the activity silently.
b.3 Write all the answers on a piece of paper.
b.4 Select a representative in the group to present the output.
Analysis:
a. Process the activity
b. Present students’ activity in the front by group.
Abstraction:
a. Proceed to the continuation of the topic, the safety devices at home.
b. Briefly review the advantage and disadvantage of series and parallel connections in
home.
c. Introduce the electrical devices that is available at home.
d. Discuss the functions of safety devices at home.
e. Ask students why we need to know how our home be wired.
Application: The students shall be divided into 4-5 groups to answer the question, “why we
need to know how our home be wired?” and share it to the other.
