A boy who was supposedly living in poverty. Yes, that’s me. I am
Christian B. Gacosta currently living in Binangonan, Rizal with my family. I have a sibling of 1 older sister, 2 younger brothers and sisters. Why did I say I was supposed to live in poverty? The answer is simple. If it weren’t for my parent’s hard work, I find myself struggling to find something to eat. We used to settle in Sorsogon, Bicol where my grandparents live. We live here for about 2 years before my father found a job in Binangonan, Rizal as a Baker. My mother and my father brought me and my older sister here in Rizal and they manage to build our own bakery. The first thing I remember since being born is the time when we already have our own bakery. I was around 4 years old back then.
Let’s fast forward towards the time I
started my education. My parents enrolled me in kindergarten where I met my first crush. She was very cute, and I got to hold her hand in our graduation. Sadly, I didn’t get to see her anymore. After kindergarten, I enrolled in the same school for my elementary education. My time in elementary has been very fun and I got to experience different things that I still holds dear even now. While I was taking my elementary education, the business my parents build was getting stronger. We managed to build a separate house near our bakery and settle there. My life was very far from what I was supposed to be. So, I am proud that I am very blessed for having hardworking and loving parents.
After graduating from elementary, I enrolled in High School. My
journey in High School was full of up and downs. I enrolled in Don Jose M. Ynares Sr. Memorial National High School assuming I would finish my Junior High School education there but after finishing grade 7, my mother transferred me to Mahabang Parang National High School because of the distance from my former school. While studying in Mahabang Parang National High School, I met my 2 best friends and my first girlfriend, though we already broke up years ago because of my personal mistake. However, my life in Junior High School has been very fun thanks to these two. Moving up to Senior High School, I enrolled in Morong National High School where I discovered my competitiveness in school. My section won different contest like Festival and Jingle Making Contest. I also participated in Divisional School Press Conference however, we didn’t win. I also met different kinds of people in Morong National High School and formed a group of friends. Graduation doesn’t mean the end because we still be friends.
Then, pandemic strikes. We all have been affected by the sudden
change in our country including our education system. We now study in front of our laptops and gadgets. It also affected our business due to restrictions especially our business involves in the food industry. Even still, I still find a way to have fun especially with the helps of my family and friends. I am hoping that me and my family will be happy on whatever the future holds.
