Hi there! My name is Atina Mae Serrano. I’m 27 years old.
I was born and raised in
the Philippines. We are 5 in my family. I have my mom, dad and 2 younger brothers here at home. My hobbies include dancing, exercising, swimming, watching movies, hanging out with my friends and playing with my dogs at home. I believe that I am fun and an outgoing person. I like to make friends, share and hear stories to them, travel to different places and basically socialize with other people. As a teacher, I am very personable in front of new people and in front of the classroom. I love that my students are getting engaged during class and freely express themselves through the activities planned. I always encourage my students to speak up and ask questions during class. Because in that way, you will know if they really understand the lesson and how effective you are as a teacher. For me, I like to adapt to different environment and different situations. Hence, I like to teach abroad. I like to grow professionally as a teacher by exploring different kinds of curriculum, learning a new language, meeting people and of course knowing the culture and practices of a certain country.
I am a licensed professional teacher and I have been teaching for 6 years. I am a
graduate of Bachelor of Education Major in Physical Education at Philippine Normal University, Manila. During my college years, I was a member of the university’s dance troupe. We usually dance folk dance and we perform to different schools and to different places in the Philippines. After graduating, I taught Physical Education subject to junior high school students for almost 4 years. I was also the Dance Coach of the high school department where I taught. My job is to facilitate dance practices, create dance routines and develop dancing skills to my members. I also worked as a preschool teacher for 2.5 years in an International School. I have handled students from different countries like America, China, Japan, Korea, India and Philippines. I was the Lead Teacher of the Playgroup Class where students are 18 months old to 2. 5 years old. We follow a Singaporean Curriculum where we also incorporate play, games and dances. In my class, we focus on their interests to have better engagement and interaction among students. Currently, I am a full-time private tutor and a part time ESL Teacher. My job is to deliver the chosen learning material and to motivate my students to speak using the English Language. Regarding the number of dependents, I don’t have any. I will be travelling alone. With this, I’m really looking-forward to working abroad and meeting different teachers and have a meaningful conversation with. Hope to hear from you soon and thank you for listening. Have a great day!
