Components of the Scope and Delimitation
 Topic of the study Students’ knowledge and perception of
genetically modified foods and their family
health practices.

be addressed information about students’ knowledge and
perception of genetically modified foods and
their family health practices.
 Time frame in which the study will be First semester, School Year 2019 - 2020
conducted
 The locale or area where the study Gusa regional Science High School - X
will be conducted
 Characteristics of the participants of 120 students. All in Grade 12 male and
the study female enrolled in the first semester of school
year 2019-2020
 Other parameters The study also includes the student’s
personal information and occupation of their
parents and siblings. The students selected
came from different sections to prevent
subjective perceptions.

Activity 3: Reshape the Scope and Delimitation

The study focuses on the relationship between socio-demographic background of

the family and their health practices. The research will beconducted for two months from
January 4 to March 4, 2020. Only 60 Grade 11 students from Mahayhay Elementary
School of Lingayen were considered in this study as respondents. Each of the students
will be given questionnaire to answer. The students selected came from three different
sections to prevent subjective perception.
What I Have Learned
1. The scope of a study explains the extent to which the research area will be
explored and specifies the boundaries within which the study will be
operating.
2. I have learned that when indicating the scope and delimitation of the study,
the researcher should only work within that problem to be addressed, time
frame, the given respondents, locality and the method of research
instruments.

What I can do
Indicate your Scope and Delimitation of the Study
1. Variables to be included - number of respondents, gender of respondents
Variables to be excluded – religion, disability
2. Why am I doing this study. To know the types of bullying and its effect to the
victims.
3. I will be conducting the study on November 3, 2021 to January 6, 2022.
4. I will be gathering my data from Grade12 students of Mahayhay National
High School, Lingayen.
5. My respondents will be 60 Grade 12 male and female students from
Mahayhay National High School, Lingayen.

Lesson 5 SCOPE AD DELIMITATION OF THE STUDY

What Is It

Research Title:
The Forms of Bullying and Its Effect on Students Performance
at Mahayhay National High School

Background of the Study:

Bullying refers to one or more perpetrators who have greater physical or social

power than their victim and act aggressively toward their victim by verbal or physical

means. It is repetitive and habitual to be considered bullying. Students/pupils who

belong to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBT) group, parents of

financial disability levels, indigenous group, with physical disability are perceived

vulnerable or are typical and considered outsiders are at higher risk of being victimized

by bullies (Wikipedia).

There are many forms of bullying, like: verbal, physical, psychological, cyber, and

sexual. Nowadays with our modern technology cyberbullying is becoming one of the

most common types. We can also categorize bullying as direct, indirect or pack bullying.
Bullies are noted as they feel superior to others. They are with low self-esteem

often try to bring down others. Bullies appear to be tough but cowardly inside. Victims of

bullies tend to be physically smaller, more sensitive, unhappy, quiet and withdrawn.

They are sometimes characterized as meek or submissive.

The effects of bullying to the victims is debilitating. Victims may feel depressed,

stressed, helpless and may experience a significant drop in school performance. Bullied

children may feel reluctant to talk to others about their feelings, for fear of being bullied

which can worsen their depression.

Parents and the school must play a significant role in dealing an incident of

bullying. Anti - bullying programs, literature and activities in school with the participation

of staff and faculty to reduce peer victimization and bullying. Interventions at an early

age, increasing empathy to victims, having students lead anti-bullying efforts is effective

in reducing bullying.

This study was conducted to find out the different forms of school bullying

experienced among the twelve grader at Mahayhay National High School, effects of

bullying to the victims, parents and school response to bullying cases they have

witnessed. It is hoped that parents, teachers and non- teaching school staff could help

in formulating effective measures/interventions to prevent any forms of bullying.

Research Questions:
1. What are the forms of bullying experienced by the students?
2. What are the effects of bullying to the victims?
3. How do the parents of the victims and the school address bullying?

Scope and Delimitation of the Study:

The focus of the study is to determine the forms of bullying and its effect

to
the victims. The study is limited to 60 grade 12 male and female students

enrolled in the second semester of School Year 2021 – 2022 at Mahayhay

National High School, Lingayen. The survey will be conducted on November 3,

2021 to January 6, 2022. Each of the students will be given questionnaire to

answer. The students selected came from three different Grade 12 sections to

prevent biased opinions.

Significance of the Study or Beneficiaries (if applicable):

It is hoped that after the conduct of survey parents, teachers and non-

teaching school staff could help in formulating effective measures/interventions

to prevent any forms of bullying.
