Industry: Education
Industry Overview:
The education industry is one of the most rapidly growing sectors in the world, providing
enormous amounts of income and employment. Foreign education demand, e-learning, and
the test preparation business have all influenced important changes in the structure and
technology of education in recent years. The desire for better education has risen as a result
of globalisation, owing largely to increased private engagement. In the sector, the e-education
market is a rising category with great development potential. In 2007-08, the United States
accounted for 60% of the global market, while Europe accounted for 15%. Despite the global
economic downturn, the number of students studying abroad is increasing worldwide.

A database model depicts a database's logical structure, as well as the relationships and
constraints that govern how data is stored and retrieved. Individual database models are
created using the rules and concepts of the larger data model chosen by the designers. An
accompanying database diagram can be used to represent most data models. A hierarchical
database model is one in which the information is structured in a tree-like structure. The
information is kept in the form of records that are linked together. A record is a collection of
fields, each of which has a single value. This paradigm was popular in the 1960s and 1970s
with IBM's Information Management Systems, but it is now uncommon due to operational
inefficiencies.
A hierarchical database is made up of a collection of records that are linked to one another. A
record is made up of a number of fields, each of which has just one data value. A link is a
connection between two specific records. In the same way that data and relationships between
data are represented by records and links, the hierarchical model is comparable to the
network model.
The record types in the hierarchical model are arranged as collections of trees rather than
random graphs, as in the network model. As a result, the database schema is represented as a
set of tree-structure diagrams. There is a single database tree instance for each of these
diagrams. A dummy node serves as the tree's root. In the tree-structure diagram, the dummy
node's offspring are instances of the root record type.
The universities always maintain their data in the hierarchical form since there are various
departments in the university and each department offers different course that composites the
tree-structure of the entire database. Since, the data collection and analysis is always better in
university by using hierarchical model.
