the light. >> Okay stop there we have, we have another issue here which is really closely related to the thing we've been talking about which is the relationship between notes and syllables. Here instead of talking about notes and syllables, the other responsibility that a songwriter has about phrasing and preserving the natural shape of the language, is here we have wander through the darkness, that's told the musical phrase, right? >> Mm-hmm. >> Erasing all the lines, that's another musical phrase, right? >> Mm-hmm. >> So, without words, just sing the first three lines, just hum or do doo, doo, doo. >> [Sound]. >> Okay, now with the road map that the melody is laying out is saying, idea, idea, idea. And what the grammar is saying is, wander through the darkness one idea. Erasing all the lines of the border and the boundaries they defined, second thing. And so your grammar is saying, I have two independent ideas. Wandering through the darkness, and erasing the lines and boundaries and borders they define borders and boundaries they define. And yet your music now is saying, oh, hold it, let's take that second idea and slice it into two pieces and separate them, and put them each behind their own fence though they're longing to embrace. We're gong to keep them away from each other, because we can, okay? And so you have two choices here. Number 1, you can create one long musical phrase, wander through the darkness, erasing all the lines of the boundaries, and you can do that. Or I think maybe a better thing to do is to create the third phrase as its own independent phrase. So I want you to sing it the way you've got it now first, then I want to make a little change. >> Wander through the darkness. >> Oh, by the way, wander through the darkness not wander through the darkness. Anyway, try again. >> [UNKNOWN] Wander through the darkness. Through is the proposition. >> Wander through the darkness, erasing all the lines of the borders and[MUSIC]. >> Okay so now what I want you to do, is simply substitute for the word of, I want you to substitute all. Say the word all instead of, of. [MUSIC] >> Boundaries, they define. [LAUGH] That's better. >> Try it again? >> Wander through the darkness erasing all the lights. All the borders and the boundaries they define. >> Okay, now sing it the second way. >> [LAUGH] Wander through the darkness, erasing all the lies of the borders and the boundaries they define. >> Now the good way. >> Wander through the darkness. >> No. >> Wander through the darkness, erasing all the lights, all the borders and the boundaries they define. >> There you go. >> Leave behind the trail[UNKNOWN] picture in the sky. >> Okay. Take your picture in the sky. Take your picture in the sky. >> They'll never take Take your picture in the sky. [MUSIC] Picture in the sky. Leave behind the trail, that paints your picture in the sky. They'll never take away your dreams of life. I can't find you now. Your hiding in a big rain cloud, painting silently but no one stop to see you. [MUSIC] And we stayed fine. Leave behind a trail that paints your picture in the sky. They'll never take away your dream to fly. I remembered! [CROSSTALK][NOISE]
