United International University is a leading private university in Bangladesh. UIU provides quality education
to national and international students in graduate and undergraduate level. UIU has the vision to become
the center of excellence in teaching and research in the south Asian region. Also UIU aims to create human
resources with all the necessary skills which are needed to serve community, industry and region. In UIU
each year consists of three semesters which are called trimesters. Duration of each trimester is 4 months.
Students can choose their courses and faculties online in a website called Ucam. Students can also take
advise from the faculties before course registration. They also can add or drop a course within a certain
period. A student need to attend at least 80% of the classes otherwise they cannot sit for the exam. A
student have to repeat a course if they fail in any course. A student can also drop a semester if they want but
only on medical ground. A student will be placed on academic probation if their CGPA falls below 2.0. Also
taking unfair means in the exam is strictly prohibited. Punishment will be given depending on how many
times they have adopted unfair means. Student code of conduct should be maintained by the students in
campus and outside the campus. It is expected that all student in UIU would wear decent dresses consistent
with local culture. UIU gives a huge amount of scholarship to their students depending on grades and other
factors. Financial assistance is also provided to the students if they face any difficulty in paying the tuition
fees. Also UIU has advanced IT facilities. They have two very well organized websites. Ucam is for online
course registration , paying tuition fees online also students can view theirs individual grades of respective
courses. UIU e learning management system (elms) is designed for both students and teachers. By this portal
they remain connected outside the classroom. The teachers can upload different contents for the students
and students can submit their assignment through elms. UIU provides co-curricular activities besides the
academic activities. There are lots of clubs and forums by which students can develop themselves

UIU has some fantastic facilities for their students already. They can also add some new things like upgrading
the present roll call system. Instead of teacher calling the names of the students a machine can be
introduced where the students will scan their ids before entering the class. Also the transport facilities of UIU
can be upgraded. New routes should be introduced as students from all over Dhaka come to UIU everyday.
Currently there are only two routes.

Factors to promote UIU to potential students/guardians:

Scholarship: UIU spends a huge amount of money behind scholarship. Different types of scholarship is
offered to students. So meritorious students can study in UIU at a very low tuition fee compared to other
renowned universities. This factor can encourage potential students or guardians to choose UIU over other
universities.

Campus: UIU has the biggest green campus among the private universities inside Dhaka. It has a huge field
so all kinds of sports can be played there. It is very rare to find this kind of sports facilities in a private
university. Also the campus is situated far from the residential area in a quite environment. Also the
structural beauty of UIU academic building is also eye pleasing.

Co-curricular activities: UIU has lots of clubs and forums. By joining this clubs and forums students can
develop themselves. They can organize different events by which they can gain experience which will help
them in the future.

Transport facilities: UIU has a very good transport system. Bus of UIU operate through two routes. Also there
is shuttle service for the convenience of the students. This shuttle system ensures the safety of the students if
classes end late.

ACBSP accreditation: The school of Business and economics has received ACBSP accreditation which is a
unique achievement in Bangladesh. It will facilitate the UIU students to get admission in top universities
around the world .

Own hostel facility: UIU has its own hostel facility. Hostel facility is very much helpful for the students who
came from outside Dhaka. Also hostel authority ensures safety of the students and provides standard
environment for living.

These are the factors that will come to my mind first to promote United International University to
potential students/ guardians. These factors can easily attract any potential student to get admission into
UIU. As not many private universities in Bangladesh offer these kind of facilities.
