It’s so important to take the time to research and understand what it takes to be successful and
to really know if it’s for you or not.

Once you know it’s what you want, then you need to take the time to create a strategy + plan for
how you’re going to set it up and get it launched.

This Business Strategy + Plan Template helps you answer the questions + do the work for the
first 2 phases of the Virtual Assistant Action Plan.
It’s all about brainstorming and capturing what you’re thinking and feeling as you begin your VA
journey. Write down everything that comes to mind, there are NO wrong answers.
The information you uncover in this exercise is vital to the success of your business.

I recommend filling out this template as you work through the Action Plan. It’s a fillable form, so
you can jump right in and get started. Or, if you prefer you can print it out and write your
answers. Do what works best + be sure to grab extra paper for notes.

Step #1 – What do you know about being a Virtual Assistant? Have you done your
research? For instance, what do Virtual Assistants do, or what types of skills do you need to be
a VA? Please list your questions + answers below.

Step #2 – What’s your why? Why do you want to be a Virtual Assistant? Why do you want to
start your own business? My why is Freedom in every sense of the word. Freedom to do the
type of work I want, to work from anywhere, to create the life I want for my family. Please list
your answers below.

Step #3 – What does your perfect day look like? What does your perfect business look like?
For example, my perfect day is working 4-5 hours on what I love to do, with time for hobbies and
family. And, my workweek is only Monday – Thursday, I don’t work on Fridays. My business
allows me the time to do the things I love, to make a difference + make the money I want.
Design the business you want below. Write it all down… it all matters!

Step #4 – How much money do you have to invest in your VA business? How much
money can you put away each paycheck? It’s important to know how much you can afford –
even if it’s not much. For example, I put away at least $250 per paycheck when I was working to
go into starting my business. Please list your answers below. Be sure to list any training or
coaching you’d like to invest in too. Review the Sample Start Up Budget provided to give you an
idea of common expenses when starting your business. (It’s part of the Action Plan Bundle.)

Step #5 – How much time can you invest in getting your business started? What does
your current schedule look like? Where can you find at least an hour a day to focus on your
business? Please list your answers below. Review the Sample Work Schedule provided to give
you an idea of how to find time to work on your business and still have a life. (It’s part of the
Action Plan Bundle)

Step #6 – How much do you need to earn per month/year in your business? How much
do you want to earn? It’s so important to know your baseline number – that’s the minimum
amount you can charge. For example, you need to know how much you need to earn to keep
the lights on or quit your soul sucking JOB. Be sure to use the Rate Calculation Sheet to help
you determine these numbers + watch my video series at http://bit.ly/varatecalc. (It’s part of the
Action Plan Bundle.)

Step #7 – What services do you want to offer? What skills do you have right now that you
could offer to get you started? What do you want to learn? You can use the Skills + Marketing
Worksheet for this step and the following one. (It’s part of the Action Plan Bundle.)

Step #8 – Is there a specific industry or profession that you’re interested in working

with? Answer the following questions to help you figure out whom you want to work with.
Remember there are businesses for everything you can think of – you just need to decide who
you want to help. For example, I knew I wanted to work with professionals in the Health +
Wellness industry. You can use the Skills + Marketing Worksheet for this step too. (It’s part of
the Action Plan Bundle.)
1. What industries or professions are you passionate about or drawn to?

2. What do you love to do in your spare time? Hobbies, etc.

3. Who do you want to help? Is there a specific industry or profession you’d like to
offer your services to?

Step #9 – Set your business goals for the next 90 days. It’s important to set goals for the
next 90 days. What do you want to accomplish? When do you want to officially launch your VA
business? I recommend breaking it down into monthly goals, followed by weekly and daily
goals. When you chunk it down, it’s not so overwhelming. The first goal I set was to get two new
clients in the first 90 days of launching my business – I actually ended up getting three.
