Trees: are big and tall plants having very thick, woody
and hard stem called trunk.

The selection of trees should be based on season, size,


form and surroundings.

Botanical Name - Dolenix regia

Shrubs: are defined as woody or semi woody


perennial plant, the branches of which rise from the
base of the plant and grow upto a height ranging from
50cm to 4m.

They can be used as a hedge, fencing and also for


topiary etc.

Botanical Name - Jasminum sambac

Climbers: have a very thin, long and weak stem


which cannot stand upright and use external support
to grow vertically.

These plants use special structure called tendrils to


climb.

Botanical Name - Combretum indicum

Creepers: have very fragile, long, thin stem that can


neither stand erect not support all its weight, thatswhy
these plants creep on the ground.

They spread horizontally on the ground.

Ground Covers: are those which naturally grow to a


very low height.

They re used to cover the ground and provide


protection to the top soil from erosion and drought.

Botanical Name - Aegopodium podagraria

Vines: are those plants whose stem requires support


and that climbs by tendrils or creep along the ground
or the stem of other plant.

They are used same as creepers for screening and


shading purpose.

Botanical Name - Clytostoma callistegioides


Common Names– Violet trumpet vine

Twinners: are climbing plant which wind themselves


around supports like ropes and rods with their touch-
sensitive main shoot and grow upwards in that way.

Climbing support is essential for these plants.

Botanical Name - Aristolochia macrophylla


Common Names– Dutchman's Pipe 13

Herbs: is a short sized plant with soft green,


delicate stem without the woody tissues.

They are used in culinary, medicinal and spiritual.

Botanical Name - Coriandrum sativum
