RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Research Design
The research design comprised a method of primary data collection using a
survey given to 75 respondents. The design also included secondary data
expressed through a review of various factors in the concerned area, indicating
that a certain segment of the study was exploratory in nature. The design used
descriptive tool - pie chart to highlight the analysis of data. The survey was
anonymous but certain demographic details such as age and Gender were asked.
Survey covered question on positive and negative aspect of topic as well as
focused on physical and mental health of respondents.

Objectives of the study


1.To find out the impact of beauty standards on aspiring audience.
2.Impact on mental & physical health of contestant along with viewers.

Hypothesis of the topic


Topic - Impact of beauty pageants on aspiring audience.
Parameter - insecurity level
H1 - growing pressure & insecurities on aspiring audience due to set standards.
Ho - there is no effect of standards set by beauty pageants on aspiring audience.

Research Methods
1. Primary Data - A questionnaire was circulated to 75 respondents keeping in
mind the geographic of research which was all India.12 questions were asked
which were closed ended comprising multiple choice, dichotomous and
Likert scale.
2. Secondary Data - Articles and Blogs were also used for proper
understanding of every aspect of research topic.
Research Sample
1.Sample Size - 75 respondents across the nation were selected for the survey
2.Sampling Unit - In my research project, the sampling unit consists of
respondents who have desired or have contested in Pageants.
3. Sampling Design - In research the technique of Snowball Sampling was
used for the convenience of survey.
4. Research Tool - Questionnaire was used for the survey, which consisted
12 questions.
5. Statistical Tool - The responses to each question were expressed
as percentages and then a pie chart was prepared for each question.

Conclusion
The Exploratory research helped to analyse the Impact on aspirants contesting
and audience watching pageants on television and how it affects them in daily
life.
1. Majority of respondents find it negative and it resulted in low self-
esteem, high insecurities and disturbed mental health among them. While
few of the respondents took pageants in a positive way since they know its
scripted.
2. India is a diverse country with numerous skin and body types. Set standard by
beauty and fashion industry hampers the sentiments of Indians.
