COMPETITION
HENLEY COLLEGE FINAL MAJOR PROJECT

UK FILM FESTIVAL LONDON

I have chosen UK FILM FESTIVAL LONDON as I believe I can win the competition with my
filmmaking skills and passion for my work.

The entry price is £25

The deadline for entry is 27th of July, however there is an earlier submission date of June 1, which Is
most likely when I will submit my production

I am going to be applying for both, the best student film and best UK short film respectively.

I truly feel as if this competition is the best fit for me as they prioritise student films and giving as
little restrictions as possible on said students and films. The competition gives me basically complete
creative freedom which is something I value so highly when making a film. Although the competition
doesn’t offer much in way of prizes, this is not something I am concerned for as I am just focussed on
making the best film I can and that accurately represents my love and passion in filmmaking.

IDEA outline
HENLEY COLLEGE FINAL MAJOR PROJECT

My idea current idea is largely undeveloped and will further develop

through my research. However, my current idea Is a gritty looking,
down to earth tale of middle class struggles during the 90s. The story
follows a group of 5 friends as they struggle to keep, their favourite
childhood café open as it is getting torn down in order to make way
for rich housing. The story takes place in a largely impoverished area
of the UK That is unspecified. Two of the boys work at the café and
that’s where most of the narrative is shown, through the two who
work there. All the boys are quite different characters. The main plot
point of the film, I that the boys decide to stage a fake robbery on the
café in order to claim the insurance money as like one last f*** you to
the system that has failed them so many times.

HENLEY COLLEGE FINAL MAJOR PROJECT

 I must pay £35 to submit my short film by June 1st into the short

 I must pay £22.50 to also enter it into the student short category
and on the same June 1st deadline
 My film must be under 40 minutes to be classed eligible for both
categories

TARGET AUDIENCE
My target audience for my final production is going to be 30-50. I have chosen
this target audience due to the time period the film is set in, therefore appealing
to the people in their later years. However, I have also chosen to target people in
there 30s due to the narrative theme of friendship and sticking together when
young and not caring. Because the specific year isn’t going to be specified in
the film, I believe that opens me up to a much wider audience base, allowing me
to reach more of a varied demographic, utilising central themes of friendship
whilst appealing to people who grew up in that period of time that can relate to

the film aesthetic, as I feel there aren’t many films out there in the market that
explore the 90s as a time period as I fell that nostalgia kick film is usually
reserved for something like the 80s or 70s.
