LET’S I NITIATE!
Activity 1. Answer the following questions.
1. What is an interest?
Interest is computed as a percentage of a loan (or deposit) amount and is paid to the
lender on a regular basis in exchange for the use of their money. The sum is often
reported as an annual rate, however interest can be computed for periods longer or less
than a year.
2. What is a compound interest?
Compound interest (or compounding interest) is interest computed on a loan or
deposit based on both the initial principal and the accrued interest from prior periods.

Activity 1. Answer the following questions.
= [𝑃(1 + 𝑖)𝑛 ] − 𝑃
= 𝑃[(1 + 𝑖)𝑛 − 1]
Where the P is the principal, i as annual interest rate in percentage term, and n as the
number of compounding periods.
= 10000[(1 + 0.05)3 − 1]
= 10000(1.157625 − 1)
= 𝑷𝟏, 𝟓𝟕𝟔. 𝟐𝟓

LET’S NFER!
Activity 1. Do as indicated.
1. What is the compounded amount if Php4500 is invested at 1.5%
compounded monthly for 2 years?
1.5 12(2)
𝐹 = 4500 (1 + 100 )
12
𝐹 = 4656.96
The compounded amount is P4656.95
𝐹 = 3000(1 + 0.043)2(2.5)
𝐹 = 3702.91
Week 16
LET’S I NITIATE!
Activity 1. Answer the following questions.
1. What is a proposition?
A proposition is a mathematical assertion such as "3 is larger than 4," "there is an
infinite set," or "7 is prime." With enough knowledge, mathematical logic can frequently
classify a proposition as true or untrue, albeit there are certain exceptions (e.g., "This
statement is false").
2. What is a negation?
It is sometimes necessary in mathematics to discover what the inverse of a particular
mathematical statement is. This is sometimes referred to as "negativity" of a remark.
One thing to keep in mind is that if a statement is true, then its negation is false (and if
a statement is false, then its negation is true).
3. What is the rule in identifying the truth value of a negated
statement?
The negation of assertion p is "not p," which is represented by "p." The truth
value of p is the inverse of the truth value of p.

LET’S NQUIRE!
Activity 1. Identify whether or not the following sentences are
propositions or not. Give the reason for your answer.
1. The sum of 15 and 17 is greater than 30.
Proposition, because the statement can be either true or false and not
both
2. How are you?
Not proposition, because they do not proclaim anything and there is no
true or false values. This is just a question
3. Mathematics is difficult.
Not proposition, because the sentence proclaims opinion which makes
non statement.
3. Math is fun.
Math is not fun.
