Abstract:
This study begins with the introduction regarding the chosen study and definition the heath care and
health care systems in the Philippines. It subsequently states the system of the health care in the
Philippines and the following solution in improving the health care system in the Philippines.

Introduction
The health care system refers to the institutions, people, and resources involved in delivering health care
to individuals- health systems. What is the purpose of health care? People usually ask about the
importance of health care in our daily lives. Health care prevents the people from having any diseases or
any other illness. It deals with maintaining one’s health status to a balance and healthy living. The
people should also know the health care system in their country. This study delineates the purpose and
the importance of the health care system, specifically in the Philippines.

As we all know, health is very important in our daily lives, that is why, there is a health care in every
country, without its system there will be no health care as well. Heath system consist of all the people
and actions whose primary purpose is to improve health- World Health Organization. But what exactly
is their goal? The goal of healthcare system is to enhance the health of the population in the most
effective manner possible in light of a society’s available resources and competing needs – Healthcare
Systems. According to Department of Health (DOH), President Rodrigo Duterte signed the Universal
Health Care Bill into law ushering in massive reforms in the Philippine health sector. Among the salient
features of the UHC Law are the expansion of population, service and financial coverage through an
array of health system amendments. Along with this is a planned paradigm shift to primary care, which
is the core and the center of all health reforms under the UHC. With UHC Filipinos are guaranteed
equitable access and affordable health care goods and services, and protected against financial risks. The
UHC helps ensure every Filipino is healthy, protected from health hazards and risk and has access to
affordable, quality and readily available health service that is suitable to their needs. Health care
organizations plays a big role in serving the Filipino citizens. They are the companies that provide
offerings to clinical authorities such as nurses, doctors, pharmacies, etc. their fundamental purpose is to
provide well being services at lower price and in better amount so that it may also be made on hand to a
tremendous number of members – Hilaris. Philippines is number 38 in the ranking of countries with the
best health care system- CEO World Magazine. How can the Philippines improve their health care
system? We are seeing rapid changes here in the Philippines. The economy is growing but,
improvements to health and well- being have been uneven, with women and children missing out most.
Climate change is causing more extreme weather events, compromising food and water security and
increasing the risk of disease outbreaks. Filipino’s expectations about what health services can offer are
also changing, due to greater availability of information and advances in technology. At the same time
the country is struggling with shifting patterns of disease as a result of population ageing and unhealthy
environments and lifestyle. This is an opportunity of the government and private sector including the
health care providers of all kinds to take action and help redesign the way we live our lives and access
services we need to thrive and prosper. The UHC Act is replete with provisions that can be implemented
to strengthen primary health care as the Philippines foundation for Universal Health Care Act. We need
to think outside of the traditional hospital box and reorient health care model. Investing in primary
health care means multiple sectors working together to bring health care to where it matters to people,
with the involvement of the community. The most efficient and effective way to provide health for al is
to invest in primary health care. By placing primary health care and essential public health functions at
the core, primary health care offers an integrated, comprehensive, coordinated and continuous range of
services to people at the heart of the community. It enjoins multisectoral policy and action and the
engagement of empowered communities to look at people’s health and well- being. Primary health care
needs ensure that the people have a partner in their health needs from birth and all throughout life,
through health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care. This is an
efficient, acceptable and affordable way of providing health care. It is the first step n the road towards
universal health coverage, a vision where all people can get quality health services without financial
