MIDTERM
By Robby Sullivan
For my essay, I have chosen to write about being a Government Property Inspector and
Investigator. I choose this job because everyday I would do something different. Investigating
or inspecting government property to ensure compliance with contract agreements and
government regulations. I wouldn't just be working in a cubical all day. I would get to travel
around inspecting and investigating government property. When working for this job, you
making decisions and solving problems. Being a Government Property Inspector and
investigator would give me opportunities to rise up in this career. That's what I like about any
job, it gives you many opportunities.
Some work activities for this job are interacting with computers, making decisions and
solving problems, getting information, and documenting/ recording information. You would use
these activities on a daily basis when working. There's some knowledge areas to be able to enter
this type of work. Some knowledge areas would be engineering and technology, customer and
personal service, building and construction, computers and electronics, administration and
management. I believe that this job would be great for me because I am great at inspecting and
investigating. I am able to make solutions and solve problems. There's many tasks when
participating in this job such as, monitoring investigations of suspected offenders to ensure that
they are conducted in accordance with constitutional requirements. Collect, identify, evaluate,
and preserve case evidence. Coordinate with and assist law enforcement agencies in matters of
mutual concern. Investigate applications for special licenses or permits, as well as alleged
license or permit violations. Prepare correspondence, reports of inspections or investigations,
and recommendations for action. Examine records, reports, and documents in order to establish
facts and detect discrepancies. Inspect government-owned equipment and materials in the
possession of private contractors, in order to ensure compliance with contracts and regulations
and to prevent misuse. I know that I could do all of these if I was older and into this field of
work.
Being a Government Property Inspector and Investigator would take a good amount of
years in college. While in college, there is going to be a few classes that you need to take in
order to work in that job force. You would need to take a reading elective. The job includes
interacting with computers, making decisions and solving problems, getting information,
documenting/ recording information. You would have get a major in Engineering and
Technology. I'm not quite sure what type of college you would have to apply to or be apart of to
pursue this career. I think you could be apart of any college to pursue this career. When you are
a Government Property Inspector and Investigator, you will be traveling a lot but in short time
periods. You would leave to places in the country that are government property.
Being a Government Property Inspector and Investigator sounds like a easy job but after
reading the information about this job, it turned out to be not that easy. There's a lot of file work
to be done after traveling from place to place. You have to make a report on the government
property and explain to the readers what's happening. You inform people on the latest news on
the property.
