Geometric Patterns Lesson:

 First group to go outside (pink then purple , then the


squares on Friday)
 Have all shapes and objects hidden outside
 Activity 1:
- Explain to the girls that they need to search the
playground for different 2D and 3D shapes and objects
- Once they found some, they need to put it into the
correct groups (2D, 3D, plain objects)
- Ask the girls what each of the objects are
 Explain to the girls what Geometric Patterns are and how
to build them (A geometric pattern is a kind
of pattern formed of geometric shapes and typically
repeated like a wallpaper.)
 Activity 2:
- Ask the girls if they know what a ‘Growing Pattern
is?’
- Explain what a growing pattern is (Show them an
examples with the shapes)
- Ask each girl to build their own growing pattern using
the different shapes and objects
 Activity 3:
- Worksheets to complete together outside or in the
passage
