The Game
Luchas is an action packed 9-Card Nanogame, in which you will control 2
luchadores in a tag team 1 fall match for the Mexican Luchas Championship.
Each player takes turn playing card from his hand to try to reduce the stamina
of the other player until he's able to pin to and get the count to 3!

During a series of rounds the players will draw 3 cards each and then play
them simultaneously, resolving each effect depending of the selected card
option speed.

The Wrestlers
Each player receives 2 meeples, this will be his luchadores, each luchador will
have a matching color die. Then choose one side of the ring card in which to
setup and then place your standing meeples and matching dice on that side as
described below:

their meeples colors

Player 2 dice matching

their meeples colors
The dice show the current stamina of its respective luchador (3 at the start of
the match), the tokens are used to represent the current luchador exhaustion,
if this reaches his stamina, he is subjet to The Count (see below).

The Cards
Each card has 2 options that could be used, one on top and the other on the
bottom. Both options have a list of moves that your luchador will take and a
speed in which they will be resolved, the smaller number the better.

Speed
2 Moves

At the start of each round both players are dealt 3 random cards from the deck
(leaving 2 cards set aside), then each will do the following actions:

1. Choose one card from your hand and one side of it.

2. Play the card face down on the table with the selected side facing your
the ring, remember the speed of that side.

3. When both players are ready, each will tell the other the speed of the
card/side selected.

4. Starting with the card/side with the smaller speed (first 0, then 1, then 2
and finally 3) turn the card face up and show the chosen side. If both
selected speeds are the same, flip a coin, the winner will reveal his
card/side first.
5. Resolve the moves on the selected side of the card from left to right,
most of them will be mandatory (see the next section). If with any of the
moves the opponent is pinned down, the round is over and you need to
start The Count (see section below).

6. The other player turns his card face up and resolve the moves on it as in
the previous step.

7. Repeat step 1 to 6 until you don't longer have any cards in hand.

The Moves
Your luchador punch, kick or holds
his opponent, bringing on the pain!
If your opponent is adjacent to you
he gains an exhaustion token.
Alternatively you may use this
luchador mask to activate the Adjacent Non-Adjacent
power provided by the space of The
Ring (see next section) you are
currently on.
Move forward to get into a better
position.
You may place your luchador one
space away from where you start
facing, unless the space is blocked
by an opponent or you are in the Valid moves Blocked
edge of the ring.
As above, but this move is optional.

Turn your luchador 90º, effectively

allowing to move into a different
direction.

Before After
Switch!
If your luchador is adjacent to your
opponent, switch positions with
him, don't change their respective
directions. If a luchador is on the
ground he will remain in the same Before After
state in the new position.
You prepare to execute a lighting
combination! After you use this
move, the next card you play this
round will resolve as if it had a
speed of 1, regardless of what's
printed on the card. If this is move
is on the last card you played in the
round it doesn't have any effect.
Push your opponent!
If your luchador is adjacent to your
opponent, move forward your
opponent respecting his direction,
even if his on the ground. You may
only move him if there's a legal
space where he could be moved to.
Trip your opponent!
If your luchador is adjacent to your
opponent, put him on the ground,
respecting his direction. While on
the ground he can't use optional
moves and if he tries to use the trip The opponent is tripped

If the opponent is between you and
the ropes when you trip him, you
just knocked him out of the ring!
Read the section on Countout.
You fall down!
Put your luchador on the ground,
read above.

Dodge! You avoid whatever your

opponent is plotting. After you play
this move, he can't use any
luchador masks this turn.

You get a respite!

Remove one exhaustion token if you
have any.
The Ring
Each space in The Ring card has 1 or 2 icons on it depicting a power up. You
may use a luchador mask to activate its power instead of using it to give your
opponent an exhaustion token.

Tag!

your side of the ring (where your
team mate is standing on the
corner) you may switch places with
him. All exhastion tokens from your
side are removed and the new You may tag in the

on the floor until you reach the end
of the ring or your opponent doesn't

this move he is adjacent to you.
If at then end of the move, the
opponent is between the edge of
the ring and your luchador, you just
knocked him out of it! Read the
section on Countout.
In the first example you
won't give an exhaustion
token. In the last
example you may try to
knock out of The Ring.
From the third rope!
If your luchador is standing on this

The Countout
During the match your luchador may be pushed out of the ring, being tripped
while on the edge of the ring or by being hit using a rebound of the ropes while
on the ropes. Now your luchador needs to get on top of the ring rightaway or
be disqualified. Immediatly after you are knocked out of the ring end the
current round and reshuffle all the cards into the deck, put your luchador
outside of the ring.

You need to play 4 cards one by one matching the corresponding numbers in
each card side by side (like a domino), if at any time you can't place the card

the 4 cards, put your luchador and the opponent in the starting positions and

The Countdown
While the match is developing you will get exhaustion tokens as your luchador
feels more and more beat up. If you would get enough tokens to equal or
exceed your current luchador stamina you are subject to a pin attempt.
Immediately end the current round and reshuffle all the cards into the deck,
put your luchador on the ground in the space you are currently occupying and
place the opponent standing on top of your luchador.

Now The Count starts, you draw the top card of the shuffled deck and shout
“1!” if the card shown contains that number on either side, continue doing the
same for “2!”, and then for “3!”, if you get all the draws are successful and
shown the corresponding number you have lost! The Fall is over.

If at any draw there isn't a number in the speed matching the shouted number
you get slip out of the pin! Congratulations. Return all your exhaustion tokens
to the side and turn your die representing your current luchador to the next
smaller number, if that die is already on 1 you suffer a Technical Knock Out and
fall unconscious, you have lost.

If you survived until this point, put your luchador standing up facing any
direction in the same space you were pinned, now put your opponent luchador
in any of the 8 space sorrounding your position facing any direction that you
want. Start a new round and the match continues.

The Real Deal

For a longer match play 2 out of 3 falls like in the Mexican Luchas.

4 Players Match
The players choose one of the two teams, and one luchador each. Randomly
choose which teammate will start on the ring, the other one will have to wait
for the tag to enter the ring. Continue the match as usual.
