1. In addition to the Muslim festivals like Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha and other
universal festivals like New Year celebration and Christmas, there are several other festivals
in Africa. Many of the African festivals are oriented around the farming and harvesting
cycles. Some of these popular festivals include Kwanzaa,Yam Festival, Adae Kese festival,
Festival of Opet, Homowo, Sed festival and the Osirian festival. Meanwhile, in addition to the
traditional Christmas, Good Friday and New Year celebrations, Americans also celebrate
various other festivals like Hanukkah, Thanks giving, Easter, Halloween, St.Patrick's Day,
Mardi Gras, Rosh Hashanah andYom Kipper.

= Selain perayaan hari besar umat Muslim seperti Ramadan, Idul fitri, serta Idul adha dan
perayaan hari besar umum lainnya seperti Tahun baru dan hari Natal,di Afrika memiiki
perayaan hari besarnya sendiri. Sebagian perayaan hari besar penduduk afrika
diselenggarakan pada masa bercocok tanam dan panen. Beberapa perayaan hari besar
yang banyak dikenal seperti perayaan hari Kwanzaa, Yam, Adae Kese, Opet, Homowo, Sed
dan Osirian. Sementara itu, selain tradisi perayaan Natal, Jumat Agung dan Tahun Baru,
Penduduk Amerika juga merayakan berbagai perayaan seperti hari Hanukkah,
Thanksgiving, Easter, Halloween, St. Patrick, Mardi Gras, Rosh Hashanah dan Yom Kipper.

2. The first nine days of Navaratri, Dussehra, and Durga Puja festival are known as Navaratri,
and are filled with dance in honor of the Mother Goddess. The tenth day, called Dussehra, is
devoted to celebrating the defeat of the demon king Ravana by Lord Rama. It also coincides
with the victory of the revered warrior Goddess Durga over the evil buffalo demon
Mahishasura. In eastern India, the festivalis observed as Durga Puja. Huge statues of the
Goddess are made and immersed in the holy Ganges River. The festival is an extremely social
and theatrical event, with drama, dance, and cultural performances held throughout the
country.

= Sembilan hari pertama dari perayaan Navaratri, Dussehra, dan Durga Puja dikenal
sebagai Navaratri, dan diisi dengan tarian persembahan kepada Ibu Dewi (Dewi Durga).
Hari kesepuluh, disebut Dussehra, dikhususkan untuk merayakan kekalahan raja iblis

dilarungkan di sungai suci Gangga. Perayaan ini merupakan perayaan yang sangat
merakyat dan teatrikal dengan drama, tarian, dan pertunjukan budaya yang
diselenggarakan diseluruh negeri.
