FINAL YEAR PROJECT TITLE PROPOSAL

Student Names: Matric No:
OLAOYE, Oloruntimileyin 14/30GR070
Proposed Project Title:
Design and Construction of Digitally Controlled Home Automation System Using
Dual-tone Multi-Frequency Decoder

Project Objective(s):
 The use of Phone to phone communication for the generation of Radio
Frequency (RF) tone

 Testing of circuit configuration with the use Proteus

 using DTMF decoder for converting the tone to digital form

 Controlling of Relay module using De-multiplexer

A brief description of the Project:

The main principle used in this project is Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency
(DTMF) communication. When a button in a mobile phone is pressed a tone is
generated with two frequencies.
To recognize the pressed number, these Radio Frequency (RF) tones at the
receiver will be identified with the use a DTMF decoder. Decoder IC converts
these tones into the digital form that is now capable of controlling appliances
through a de-multiplexer and relay. The de-multiplexer receives these digits then
either allow or stop current flow in certain terminals thereby energizing or de-
energizing the coil of the relays that are connected to its terminals.

Expected results of the Project:

This project should be able to control home appliances from anywhere in the
home or outside the home thereby making the switching of devices convenient
and easy.
