Vaccinations in Madura

The development of the vaccination process in Madura is relatively low when compared
to other regions in East Java. The low coverage of vaccination in Madura is due to various
factors, one of which is low literacy about vaccines and widely circulated false news [1]. Based
on data released by the COVID-19 Task Force of the Jatim Provincial Government, vaccination
coverage in Sampang regency reached 10.08 percent or 74,702 residents for the first dose, while
the dose of two 4.02 percent or 29 799 residents, Sumenep Regency reached 10.37 percent or 93
338 residents dose two 4.84 percent or 43,565 residents of Pamekasan Regency reached 11
percent or 71,809 people dose two 5.99 percent or 39,097 residents of Bangkalan Regency as
many as 12.70 percent or 104 818 residents, while the dose of two 6.21 percent or 51,232
citizens [1].
In the vaccination process in Madura, the government is assisted by various parties in
order to speed up the vaccination process, including assistance carried out by religious
organizations such as NU and Muhammadiyah. Due to the large number of conservative
Islamists in Madura, cooperation with religious organizations is expected to overcome low
vaccination coverage in the Madura area. In addition, pesantren is a major concern, because of
some considerations, madura people are known as a society has the patronage of strong religious
figures,ucapan and statements delivered by figures tend to be more noticed than officials. As
well as pesantren has a strong network with the number of santri spread in almost all corners of the
village, so that by paying special attention to santri, the effectiveness of program targets is
considered more effective [2].
In addition to assistance from religious organizations, the covid-19 task force of each
district cooperates with TNI-POLRI agencies to create a conducive atmosphere during the
vaccination process [2]. In addition to being assisted by religious organizations, the vaccination
process in Madura is assisted by airlangga university with the target being the outermost remote
islands in Madura. The main mission of the expedition held by Rumah Sakit Terapung Ksatria
Airlangga (RSTKA) is vaccination and education [3]. In addition, as a form of efforts to
accelerate vaccination, The Minister of Social Affairs of Indonesia, Mrs. Tri Rismaharani visited
bangkalan regency on direct orders from the President of Indonesia. Two places visited by
Mensos for efforts to accelerate the vaccination process are pesanteren huts, namely Ponpes
