A Detailed Lesson Plan in

Technology and Livelihood Education – Beauty Care (Nail Care)

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students are able to:
A. Identify the needed nail care tools and materials in giving a plain manicure.
B. Value the importance of using the appropriate nail care tools in giving a plain manicure.
C. Demonstrate the proper way of giving a plain manicure.

Okay very good! Today, we are
going to discuss about Giving a Plain Manicure.
Cuticle nipper and colored nail polish,

Tools:
1. Cuticle nail pusher- used to push cuticles.
2. Cuticle nipper- used to cut the cuticles.
3. Nail cutter- used to trim fingernails and toenails.
4. Nail file- used to shape and smooth the free-edge of the
nails.
5. Orangewood stick- used to remove excess polish.
Materials:
1. Alcohol/Hand sanitizer- used as sanitizer.
2. Base coat- is a clear layer of polish applied to the nail
plate before the application of colored polish.
3. Benzalconium chloride- used as surface disinfectant and
topical antiseptic.
4. Colored nail polish- applied on fingernails to decorate
and protect the nail plate.
5. Cotton- used for cleaning the nails and remove nail
polish.
Steps in Giving a Plain Manicure
1. Sanitize hand by the use of alcohol or hand sanitizer.
2. Starting from the little finger, cut the nails according to
the desired shape.
3. File the nails to shape and smooth the free edge.
4. Apply cuticle remover on the nails to soften the cuticle.
5. Push back the cuticle.
6. Cut the excess cuticle.
7. Brush the nails to clean off the cut cuticles.
8. Apply benzalconium chloride.
9. Apply base coat.

the other hand.
10. Apply two coats of polish
