ones.
Identify how to exercise control and management of projects.

Assignment brief:
Projects can range from very small individual ones, with no direct cost, to major
multi-million pound ones. This assessment tests the knowledge and skills you have
developed throughout the module in relation to two different projects.

Task One:
Building on your experience from your second formative assessment, produce a
Gantt chart to achieve a project of your choice. Include a short reflective piece to
accompany your chart outlining the benefits and drawbacks of developing and
using this process to achieve completion of your chosen project.
This reflective piece can be written (max. 1000 words) or recorded in a medium of
your choice e.g. video voice over power point, Prezi, podcast (maximum 10
minutes). You are responsible for checking that your chosen medium can be
uploaded to Brightspace. You may wish to use a model such as Gibb’s reflective
cycle to structure your reflective piece. (50% of overall mark).
Task Two:

The Marble Arch Mound is a project that was commissioned by Westminster City
Council and opened on 26 July 2021.

The following sources provide some information on the project, but you are
encouraged to carry out further research yourselves:
• 10minute Video walk around https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01dydohUCnU
• The Marble Arch Mound concept https://osd.london/project/marble-arch-mound/
• WestminsterCity Council update on Marble Arch
Mound https://www.westminster.gov.uk/news/westminster-city-council-update-
marble-arch-mound

The project is considered to have been a ‘failure’ for various reasons. Provide
an academic report that identifies some of the reasons that the project might
be considered a failure. Make some recommendations that might mitigate
these reasons, and ensure success, for future projects that they undertake
(max. 2000 words). You may find that your reflective learning diary will help
you to identify some of these aspects. (50% of overall mark)
