Dear Parents and Guardians,

December has been a whirlwind of a month! I hope you all have a wonderful
Christmas break. This month, I started teaching about understanding and regulating
our emotions. We watched a little clip from the movie “Inside Out” to help
students start to recognize how quickly our emotions are able to change and we
learned about categorizing our emotions into different “zones” of similar
emotions. Below is an example of how we can categorize emotions into each
zone. In January, we will begin learning a bit more about how we can regulate our
emotions to help us be in control of our actions and emotions.

In kindergarten, we started learning about big problems vs. little problems and how
we can learn to solve little problems independently. We’ll continue learning about
ways to resolve conflicts over the next few months.
