On 02/01/2022 at or about 0916 hours received a call from an employee that works at

This swim center is located at 16601 Georgia Av., Olney, Montgomery
Olney Manor Swim Center.
County, Maryland. This swim center is owned, operated, and maintained by Maryland-National
Park and Planning Commission. The employee advised that a possible theft suspect had entered
their establishment and was currently in the locker room. The caller also advised that the
suspect had been operating a Hyundai which displayed Virginia tags. Cpl. Rumsey #2422 located
a dark colored Hyundai Sonata which displayea Virginia registration of UFX 9854 parked in the
poolgs lot. Cpl. Rumsey set up surveillance in the immediate area. Cpl. Rumsey then observed
the mentioned suspect exit the swim center a or about 0935 hrs. This suspect then walked a
short distance and got into the mentioned Hyundai. Cpl. Rumsey then summonsed a mark cruiser
to initiate a traffic stop. Cpl. Tiongson approached in marked cruiser and activated his
emergency equipment at the Emory Lane exit ahd Georgia Avenue. The suspect drove around
vehicles waiting at the light by going into the wrong way lanes. The suspect then fled at a

high rate of speed going North on Georgia AJenue. Cpl. Tiongson quickly lost sight of the
suspect and the Hyundai. Cpl. Rumsey continued north on Georgia Avenue, and lost sight of the
Hyundai.
At or about 0938 hours Cpl. Rumsey located the Hyundai at King William Drive and Georgia
Avenue, Olney, Maryland. It was evident thaJ the suspect had been involved in an accident. Cpl
Witt, responded to the accident scene and recovered a Washington DC ID registered to Trevon
Garrett Brox, date of birth 04/18/95. The suspect ran into a black, 2015 Chevy Camaro
belonging to Jeffery Alan Johns. Mr. Johns later stated that the suspect opened the back door of
the Hyundai and a handgun fell out. The suspect picked up the gun and took off running. Cpl.
Rumsey then observed the suspect running from the accident in a North Easterly direction through
the neighborhood on the East side of Georgia Avenue. The suspect ran to the rear of 17709
Georgia Avenue, Olney, Maryland. Cpl. Rumsey was able to parallel the suspect and attempted to
keep the suspect in sight. Cpl. Rumsey got but on foot at some point and was able to catch up
to the suspect 3325 Buehler Court, Olney, Mohtgomery County, Maryland. Cpl. Rumsey gave verbal
commands for the suspect to stop. It should be noted that Cpl. Rumsey was in a marked police
vest with police identifiers. Cpl. Rumsey deployed his issued 0C spray because it was evident
that the suspect was not going to comply with verbal commands and was going to actively resist
arrest. The OC spray did not take effect. Al ost immediately, at or about 0940 hours, the
suspect produced a firearm and attempted to murder Cpl. Rumsey. The suspect fired one round
from this firearm directly at Cpl. Rumsey.
it should be noted that the suspect was most likely
less that 8 feet away from Cpl. Rumsey when he fired the gun, in an attempt to murder Cpl.
Rumsey. Cpl. Rumsey attempted to take cove? and summonsed other officers to the area to
assist. A round was later discovered lodged in the break light of a parked vehicle that was just
behind where Cpl. Rumsey was.
P02 Wigmore and this writer, Cpl Benson, arrived shortly on scene and began a tactical search of

the immediate area. K—9 officers were requested for a track behind the residence on Buehler
Court. Sheriff K—9 arrived on scene and began a track. The K—9 eventual tracked to the rear of
3317 Buehler Court. Commands were given and the suspect surrendered without incident. P02
Wigmore placed the suspect under arrest. An immediate search of the area where the suspect was
found, Cpl Wigmore located a handgun under the deck just in arms reach of the suspect. The
weapon recovered was a Glock .40 caliber with a twenty—roUnd magazine. 18 rounds were in the
magazine and one round in the chamber. Cpl. Rumsey later backtracked his steps and located a
pickle jar with suspected marijuana. It shhuld be noted that the suspect also discarded
property that he had just stolen from the mentioned swim center. The suspect was also in
possession of the bolt cutters that he used to cut padlocks in the swim ceter.
