Guava (Psidium Guajava) Leaves as Herbal Soap for Wounds

RESEARCH PLAN

A. Rationale

Wounds can be serious if not treated well. Some bacteria and viruses can entered
easily because it is not treated seriously it can infect your wounds and will take long time to cure.
It can also irritate your skin and leave scar that are difficult to get rid of. Wounds are injuries
that break the skin or other body tissues. They include cuts, scrapes, scratches, and punctured
skin. They often happen because of an accident, but surgery, sutures, and stitches also
cause wounds. 

The outcome of the study will be useful to people most likely to teenagers who are
experiencing wounds.

B. Research Question, Hypotheses, Expected Outcomes

The study aims to determine the effectiveness of guava soap as an removal of


blackheads and wounds. The study aimed to answer the following question. First, Is the product
acceptable in terms of: texture, odor, and appearance, Is there a significant difference between
the guava soap and the commercial hand soap in terms of: texture, odor, and appearance, lastly
Does guava leaves extract effective in making herbal soap? For the hypotheses the product is not
acceptable in terms of: texture, odor and appearance. There is no significant difference between
guava soap and the commercial hand soap in terms of: texture, odor, and appearance. The
expected outcomes of this study is to determine the effectiveness of guava soap in our wounds.
C. Materials and Procedure

The following materials are included in this study: guava leaves, 200 ml of water, 10
mg of sodium hydroxide NaOH, 40 ml oil, pot, measuring cup, molder.

For the procedure the researcher add the guava leaves to a pot filled with 200ml of
water and boil it. After 15 minutes separate the leaves and the guava extract. Put 30 ml of guava
extract to a container. Then add 40 ml oil and 10 mg of sodium hydroxide (NaOH). Put the
solution to a molder and keep it undisturbed. After 12 hours the researcher took the soap out of
the container to wrap and label it.

Potential Risks and Safety

Proper preparation and wearing of goggles, mask and gloves will be followed
correctly. It can inflict serious injury if not followed correctly.

Data Analysis

Data will be obtained using two respondents, the one that used the guava soap in a
week and the other respondent will not using the guava soap in a week. T -test will be used to
analyze the obtain data to compare with the two respondents if anything has changed in them or
if guava soap is effective in removing blackheads and wounds.
