Course Title: Juvenile Delinquency and Juvenile Justice System

Course Code: CBI-203

Class Schedule: 3 Hours per Meeting

A. COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course deals with the etiology of delinquent, deviant behavior and factors that causes juvenile delinquency;
measures for deterrence and control of teenage crime; recognize the various laws and provisions that protect the rights
and welfare of children; theories of crime and delinquency; the role of different agencies in handling child in conflict
with the law; influence of community institution; models of juvenile justice system in different perspective and its
relationship to Philippine Criminal Justice System as a whole; the study of significant cases and create criminological
research on juvenile delinquency.

B. COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:

CLO1. Understand the situation of juvenile delinquency in the Philippines;


CLO2. Internalize the concept of juvenile justice system and how the governing laws treat the system;
CLO3. Enumerate the laws that protect the rights of the juvenile; and
CLO4. Conduct research on the causes of juvenile delinquency and the process on how to prevent it.

E. COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

Comply and pass all academic requirements

F. GRADING SYSTEM:

Term Grade (TG)= 10% Homework/project+10% Attendance+15% Recitation+30% Average Quizzes+35% Major
Examination

Semestral Grade (SG)= 30% Prelim Grade+30% Midterm Grade+ 40% Final Grade

G. CLASSROOM POLICIES:

a. Dress code, maximum number of absences and grace period for late comers shall depend on the guidelines set forth
in the Student Handbook.
b. Observance of courtesy and proper decorum is highly encouraged during classes.
c. Long Tests are highly encouraged to be conducted one week before each major examination (Prelim, Midterm,
Finals)
d. Violations of Honor Code System like for example cheating and plagiarism shall be dealt with accordingly. Such
incident shall be reported in writing to the college Prefect of Discipline for administrative investigation. The erring
student shall be given due process during the process of investigation.
