LABORATORY ACTIVITY No. 1

Name: ______________________ Yr. & Sec. _________ Date :
_______________
I. TITLE: Ladder Diagramming Using the Integrated Development Environment (FluidSim).

II.OBJECTIVES:
1. To identify the basic the different industrial automation components.
2. To make a ladder diagram using the Integrated Development Environment (FluidSim).
3. To control a single phase motor using relay logic.
4. To observe safety precautions while working.
III. Materials
1. Contactor, circuit breaker, connecting wires, terminal block, FluidSim simulator app., computer.
2. Screwdriver, wire stripper, multimeter, PPE.
IV. PROCEDURE
1. Base on the given problem below; make a logic circuit design using ladder diagramming technique.
2. Draw the ladder diagram on the space provided below.
3. Open the IDE of SIEMENS PLC and construct the ladder diagram.
4. Check for error before using FluidSim simulator..
5. Wear the appropriate PPE.
6. Apply safety precautions at all times.

Problem: (Verbal Instruction)

Make a logic controller diagram of a single-

phase motor with starting capacitor.

Conditions/Control Variables:
1. The motor will run in clockwise motion
(Forward) for 5 seconds.
2. The motor will STOP if the stop button
(Pb1) is pressed
- END-

V. Assessment Criteria

RUBRICS
Criteria Scale Rating
1 Diagram and Wiring Connections 20% No errors in the connections 20
With errors in the connections 5
2 Performed Conditions / Functionality 50% Performed all the given conditions 50
(Simulated ____ Actual Circuit ____) Some conditions were not satisfied 5-30
3 Used of Appropriate Component Symbols 10 % Used of Appropriate Component Symbols 10
4 Speed 10% Finished the task before the time allotment 10
Finished the task after the time allotment 5
5 Safety Precautions / Workmanship 10% Observed safety practices at all times 10
Observed safety practices not all times 5
Total 100% TOTAL

VI. Reflective Analysis:

In this activity, the timer controls the motor when will it run clockwise or forward. The timer
was set for 5 seconds. It will the time that the motor will run in clockwise motion and will
automatically stop after the indicated time. Pressing the stop button will immediately stop the
motor even if the time being set was not yet finished.
