1 Maintenance
The PUMPS and MOTORS do not require any particular mainte
nance.
INDICATION OF FOULING  The builtin vacuum gauges (716) in
dicate the degree of strainer fouling at any time. If both vacuum
gauges show the same reading, the strainers are clean. If the read
ings are different, the strainers are more or less fouled. For taking
the measurement, the changeover handle must be in its middle
position.
HEAVY NOISE FORMATION (Cavitation) may occur with fouled
strainers, half open valves in the suction piping, fuel oil too cold or
with too long or too narrow dimensioned suction piping.
THE STRAINERS MUST NOT BE CLEANED WITH THE CHANGE−
OVER HANDLE IN MIDDLE POSITION. First change over to the se
cond pump. Then turn the handle to the running pump. Unscrew

the free strainer cover (074), take out the strainer basket (018),
clean it and replace it. Close the cover and return the change
over handle to its middle position.
2 Disassembly of a Pump
Either pump can be disassembled without interruption of plant op
eration. To this effect bring the threeway ball plug valve into the
respective position (as for strainer cleaning)
Undo the hexagon nuts (894,2) which fasten the yoke (180) and
pump to the pump set casing (116,1 or 116,2). Remove the motor
(529). Lift the pump from the pump set casing inserting two screw
drivers into the grooves provided for this purpose.
