Activity 1

Propose a title for possible research and come up with at least three (3) statements of the
problem or arguments. Prepare an outline which would determine the flow of your research.
Using digital archives, prepare a bibliography of the sources which you can use in your research.
Classify your sources according to type.
Proposed Title: Self-Esteem Issues Statement of the Problem:
1. Self-esteem positively co-relates with the increased academic performance of students.
Research studies show a highly close relationship between the academic achievements of
students and their self-esteem. Most studies have concluded that students with an elevated
level of self-esteem have an important level of academic achievement (Owen, 1992). However,
in the Philippines, most of the studies have been conducted as case studies which could hardly
be generalized. This research, therefore, is beneficial in many ways. First, researchers would
recognize that the cause of low self-esteem is not only based on their academic performance.
Specifically, this research seeks to recognize other factors and potential effects of both low self-
esteem and high self-esteem.
2. Self-esteem is an important part of self and influences facets of the life of human beings. As
school achievement and development have vital roles in defining individuals and deciding their
future futures, enhancing self-esteem in pupils has a remarkable role in improving their real-life
accomplishments during their growth phases from infancy to adulthood. The researchers
decided to explore the connection between self-esteem and student’s achievement in this
study. Student accomplishments primarily through researching the high self-esteem domains
that are assumed to result in high school accomplishment, and those of low self-esteem that
can contribute to low school accomplishment.
3. The primary purpose of this study was to investigate the impact and the relationship of self-
esteem and identification with academics on the achievement of Filipino students. The
secondary purpose was to clarify this relationship and determine educational practices and
strategies that might promote achievement among Filipino middle school students.

Activity 2
Get the original copy of your birth certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority
(formerly National Statistics Office) and discuss its (1) competence and impartiality in telling the
truth, (2) willingness in telling the truth and (3) adequacy of data that it conveys. What other
sources do you have at home do you think you can corroborate with your birth certificate? What
corroboration did you establish?
1. Competence and impartiality in telling the truth the competence of my birth certificate, I can
claim, is adequate. Since this paper contains all the knowledge and data about me since I was
born, apart from it coming from a trusted source. This document is also one of the most critical
documents used for identifying a person.
2. Willingness in telling the truth for me, it is not enough to be willing to tell the truth about my
birth certificate. About why? Since there are several situations around the world where the
content of the birth certificate is not realistic, we see in shows that he can alter or add another
information to the birth certificate when paid, the doctor or nurse who makes this paper, even
which is not true. Another explanation I do not agree with the willingness to tell the truth about
the birth certificate is also because of my own birth certificate, where the name of my father is
not indicated, but now he is with me, and I know him.
3. Adequacy of data that it conveys for me, the details on the birth certificate may not be
enough to identify a person. You still need to have a secondary document to prove your
identity, usually in the documents needed when you apply.
