ENERGIZED

Humans are well - known to be the highest form of creation in the entire
universe. Our bodies are capable of doing a lot of things mentally and
physically. With this, a lot of people invest into their bodies. Not just
athletes. With this being said, Do you think exercise really makes us
energized? Do we really need to work hard to achieve such a thing? Is this
even possible?
Last 2018, Dr. Wendy Suzuki, a neuroscientist shared her Ted Talk about the
long term and brain - changing effects of exercise. She left the audience,
including myself, with 4 biggest changes. Did you know that exercise
decreases the feeling of anxiety/stress? Apparently, if we keep on moving
our bodies, our body releases different types of neurotransmitters like
dopamine that creates a “bubble bath” in our brain. Next, it improves our
focus and concentration. In one of Dr. Suzuki's lab experiments, she found
out that a single session of workout even in a short time can improve and
shift our ability to focus and concentrate that spans at least for hours. That’s
cool right??
As she continues her speech, who would have thought that exercise also
produces new brain cells? According to some studies, working out creates
the process of Neurogenesis or the birth of new cells. This improves our
cognitive function that allows our brain cells to communicate better. Last but
not the least, it protects our brain from aging and neurodegenerative
diseases. Keep it simple, the more we workout ourselves, the brain gets
stronger and bigger like a muscle.
After her speech, the audience gave her one of the best ovations I’ve seen. I
did not know that something so hard to do, gives us the best result each one
of us can get. I know that most of you also feel the same way. It's a
shocking discovery that not everyone is ready to believe since a lot of people
see exercise as something that is very troublesome to do. But in the end,
what can we do?
