1. What is a computer network? Draw a diagram.
A computer network is a group of computers connected with one another for the purpose
of electronically communicating data.

2. What is the main purpose of a computer network?


To share resources and data between one computer system to another.
3. Define Internet
A network that connects computers from all over the world, where we can share
information and communicate with others.
4. What was the original purpose of the internet?
It was originally invented for military purposes.
5. When and where was the official first internet connection in the Philippines? (Hint: It
happened somewhere in Cebu.)

7. What is an IP address? State its purpose.
It is a unique address that identifies a device on the internet or the local network.
8. Who assigns/gives a computer’s IP address?
The Public IP address is given by the ISP and the Private IP address is provided by the
Router.
9. What is an Internet Service Provider (ISP)? Give the name of your ISP.
It is an organization that provides services for accessing, using, or participating in the
internet. My ISP is PLDT.
10. What is the difference between IP4 vs IP6? Give one example each.
 IP4 uses a 32-bit address for its internet address. Example: 192.168.1.1
 IP6 uses a 128-bit address for its internet addresses. Example:

11. What is a network protocol?
It is a set of rules that determines how data will be transferred between different devices
connected to the same network.
12. Give 3 examples of Internet protocols
 TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol)
 UDP/IP (User Datagram Protocol/Internet Protocol)
 HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol)
13. What is the difference between http and https?
The difference between these acronyms is that the former literally lacks the letter ‘s’
which means secure. In short, HTTP is unsecured and sends over port 80 while HTTPS is
secured and uses port 443.
14. Give an example of a web browser.
 Google Chrome.
15. Define World Wide Web
It is a system of information accessible through the internet, where web resources are
identified by URLs or Uniform Resource locators and are connected to one another by hypertext.
