What it’s like to be an ABM student during pandemic years

A student’s life is a foundation for learning. A student has to face all types of
situations and is trained for the future. School life is the best and happiest part for every
student. As senior high school students, we are preparing for college. This is when we
decide the course we should take. But what was it like to be an ABM student during the
years of the pandemic? We all assumed we wouldn't be able to enjoy it because we
were only using an online platform. If the teachers are not there physically present, how
will the students be able to learn effectively? Today, I would like to tell you about how
my last few months went and how I enjoyed despite the epidemic and the online setup.

I was quite worried before the school year began because I would be entering
senior high school with only an online setup. At that time, I was thinking to myself, "How
can I enjoy my senior year if I'm just going to experience it online?". I was also worried I
would have new classmates because my classmates were the same from eighth to
tenth grade, and I had become used to them being my classmate throughout my high
school years. However, in senior high school, I will meet new people, and I am quite
concerned because I struggle with social anxiety and I am shy around strangers, so I
kept wondering about how I would make friends. I convinced a friend to enroll with me
so that we could be classmates, and thank God, we are, and we are both in the ABM-04
section.

I stalked my new classmates on social media and messaged them if I could be

friends with them. Even though I'm struggling with social anxiety, I gathered my
confidence to talk to them because nothing will happen if I let it take over me. As a
result, I made a lot of new friends. One of my classmates approached me first, asking if
she could be my friend, and I eagerly accepted her offer. I was overjoyed that someone
had approached me and wanted to be my friend. We've been so close up until now, and
there are four of us who are friends and always support each other with academics.
I also have to discipline myself because we have a lot of requirements that we
must accomplish as students. I'm the type of person who wants things done as quickly
as possible since I can't sleep because I'm constantly thinking about the activities I need
to accomplish. As a result, I always spend my entire day at school. I sit in front of my
computer for 14 hours straight, only taking breaks to eat and take a bath. Nonetheless, I
am happy with what I am doing because I prefer to finish all of my activities early and,
since I have nothing to do at home, I can spend my entire time to school. My parents
always scold me for forgetting to eat. But people you shouldn’t follow what I am doing, it
is not advisable because you will be drained and burned out. You should have time
management.

Even though we are just halfway through the school year, I have had a great time
these past few months. I thought I wouldn't enjoy it because of my social anxiety, but I
was mistaken; I made a lot of friends because I didn't let my social anxiety control me. If
you are a person who experiences social anxiety just like me, don’t let it consume you
because if you do, nothing will progress and you'll be stuck with your social anxiety.
Learn to go out of your comfort zone and develop your socializing skills. Once you can
prevent it from controlling you, I'm sure you'll be happier because, just like me, you'll
make a lot of friends. Also, I would strongly advise you to have your time management.
You should be able to balance your time between school and family because if you
don't, you will feel pressured and stressed. You'll also have to cram for your schoolwork.
