The Role:

Accountabilities

* The Subsea Project Engineer is accountable for the engineering, co-ordination and
management of subsea intervention, major repair and construction projects, and the execution
of both IRM and subsea project activity.
* The Subsea Project Engineer shall support the Subsea Intervention Projects Lead to ensure
that the work is planned, engineered and executed to meet the safety, environmental and
production obligations of the business, and effectively manage interfaces with other business
stakeholders and contractor teams supporting the work-scopes
Responsibilities

* To ensure that each subsea work is correctly engineered, planned and can be executed safely
within the capability of the subsea resources to meet the both the IRM activity and project remit,
and which supports RSRUK business goals
* To ensure that RSRUK management system and procedural framework is in place to safely,
environmentally responsibly and efficiently manage subsea activities is both relevant and is
applied in the execution of the work and to liaise with the project sponsor and the Diving/ROV
technical authority to agree appropriate requirements
* To deliver the appropriate risk assessments, work packs, drawings, method statements,
equipment spreads, spares and contingency plans to manage foreseeable and credible project
outcomes
* To ensure that necessary vessel audits, supplier meetings and scenario planning sessions are
undertaken as required
* That the appropriate "client representation" is briefed for the duration of the offshore works and
that the appropriate data and video capture protocols, and reporting mechanisms are in place
* To deliver the relevant subsea activity SMS bridging documents, and that emergency
communication and response arrangements are coordinated with those of RSRUK
* The preparation and management of the delegated work budgets is agreed with the relevant
asset and functional managers, and approved by the relevant PRE
* That an appropriate emergency spares inventory is properly catalogued and maintained in a
fit-for-use condition where appropriate
* That the appropriate Design, Fabrication and Installation (DFI) summaries are prepared,
maintained, and are accessible to intervention and IRM projects, and that these summaries are
agreed as a deliverable from new projects
* That "as-built" drawings, summaries, photographs, manuals, schematics and reports are
prepared and delivered to support planned and future intervention and IRM projects
* That the appropriate consents from partners, regulators and external stakeholders relevant for
intervention and repair activities are in place and complied with in a timely manner
* To ensure that the vessel activity plan and schedule is centrally prepared, co-ordinated and
integrated with each asset's activity plan so that all vessels under contract are effectively utilised
to the extent of their capabilities, and that their costs are allocated to the appropriate cost
centres

Key Duties

* Provide technical assistance in the development of, and work in accordance with, the
company's management system.
* Maintain a good knowledge of legislative requirements, commercial and contractual
arrangements
* Ensure that all the necessary documents are maintained and updated as per requirements
* Maintain an overview of the physical condition and operating status of the subsea and
pipelines infrastructure
* Approval, checking and preparation of design / engineering documentation.
* Develop and enhance processes and systems for wider use in the discipline.
* Ensure work is carried out in accordance with relevant business needs and priorities.
* Ensure work is carried out in accordance with relevant Codes, Standards and Procedures.
* Provide input to and prepare cost estimates and execution plans for subsea sat and air diving
IRM and project works.
* Ensure delivery of all aspects of project design, specifications and procurement of the work-
scope to safety, cost, schedule and quality criteria.
* Plan and maintain the discipline progress of the work-scope.
* Report work progress status to asset and functional reporting lines.
* Ensure all interfaces with other disciplines are clearly defined, and protocols and
communications are effectively managed.
* Assume delegated budget and schedule accountability for subsea IRM and project work-
scopes.
* Manage both internal and external resources / contractors according to the work-scope and
schedule to ensure timely and cost effective delivery, incorporating the responsibility to define
execution strategy and plan for each work-scope, agree deliverables and resource levels.
* Technical contract co-ordination of subsea contractors and suppliers.
* Implement and manage on a continuous basis a process of risk identification and
management, including the management of change in order to minimise risks to work-scope
delivery and objectives.
* Implement and record feedback of lessons learned to the organisation for similar future work-
scopes.

Education, Experience & Technical Qualifications

* Bachelor Degree qualified or equivalent, or time-served professional, in a relevant technical


discipline is preferred, with a demonstrable project or operational experience in subsea
engineering, intervention, technical analysis or repairs
