How To Make A Pencil Holder With Old Cds Instructions Edited
If you have ever wanted to organize the clutter of pencils and pens littering your workspace, this
Do-it-yourself may be just the thing to declutter the mess.. With three old CDs, hot glue, and
some old construction paper and fabric, you can follow these instructions and get to organizing
your desk.
TIME NEEDED FOR THIS PROJECT: 20-40 minutes
*CAUTION: Hot glue can burn if it comes into contact with skin.
Utilize caution when using.
Creating the Holder:
1. Turn on hot glue gun and lay CD A flat.
2. Once ready, spread hot glue around the face of the CD and then lay
a piece of cut fabric (9 in x 9 in) across the face of the CD,
completely covering it. Continue until entire CD is encased in
fabric.
3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 with CDs B and C.
4. Using the ruler, measure and mark a piece of cardboard about 4 x
1.5 inches. Cut this piece of cardboard away from the shoebox.
5. Cover one side of the cardboard in hot glue. Lay fabric* on the
cardboard until side of cardboard is completely covered. Repeat
until cardboard is completely covered.
6. Take CD A and run hot glue along the diameter of CD A. Press the
length of the fabric covered cardboard and hold until dry. The
cardboard should be laying horizontal, on its length side.
7. Using CD B, repeat Step 6.
8. Stick CD B to the other length of the cardboard. Hold until dry
and stable. At this point, it should look like a wheel.
11. Press and hold construction paper and “wheel” until dry.
12. Using the third CD, place a thin line of hot glue along the
diameter (face) of the CD
13. Place and hold the bottom of the “wheel” (leave the opening
at the top) to the third CD. Allow structure to dry.
Conclusion:
Now you can organize a cluttered desk space with ease, and the pencil
holder doesn’t just hold pencils; it can also hold scissors, glue, and more
supplies. It is recommended to use a darker color fabric (black, brown,
dark blue) over white as some CDs have cover art that will show through
lighter colored fabric.
