SCOPE OF WORK FOR HIGH PRESSURE ROTOMOL CLEANING OF

UNDERGROUND COOLING WATER PIPELINES

Introduction :
BPCL Kochi Refinery is implementing a Propylene derivative Petrochemical Project (PDPP)
for the production of Niche petrochemicals such as Acrylic Acid, Acrylates and Oxo
Alcohols.
PDPP project consist of Cooling Tower package ,which consist of 6 cells (6 X 4000 M3/Hr,
including one spare cell) having a total design capacity of 20000 m3/hr. The cooling water
system envisaged to meet the cooling water requirement of PDPP complex which includes
Acrylic Acid, Oxo Alcohol & Acrylates process units and offsites & utilities system. The
cooling water major piping network consists of supply line of 72” (WCS), return line of 50”
(WCR), bearing cooling water return line of 14” (BCR) and chilled cooling water return line
of 50” (WCHR) with multiple tap-off locations at units and offsites & utilities system. In
cooling tower pipeline network, underground pipelines of WCS, WCR & WCHR are having
total length of around 1186.7 meters

OBJECTIVE

This procedure for high pressure Rotomol Cleaning of piping essentially is carried for the
removal of loose rust, welding burs, mill scale and welding slag, construction materials such
as Helmets, ropes, Safety Harnesses Hammers that commonly are present in internal pipes.

The Cleaning is achieved by use of a Rotating Hose Device/RHD System which is fed water
at high pressure of about 15,000psi /1035bar.At such high pressures almost all debris can
be eliminated from the pipes.

PRE-QUALIFICATION CRITERIA (PQC)
