ACADEMIC PRESENTATION (40%)

The objective of this activity is to develop your skills in making an academic presentation. You
will be taken through a process of preparation, practice and presentation of an informative
speech. The chosen topic must be related to your field of studies and approved by the teacher.

This is a pair work activity which involves two tasks:

 Academic Presentation Portfolio – 10 %

 Academic Presentation Assessment – 30%

The division of the presentation should be as follows:

For pairs: For triplets:

Presenter 1 – introduction and main point 1 Presenter 1 – introduction and main point 1

Presenter 2 – main point 2 and conclusion Presenter 2 – main point 2 and main point 3

Presenter 3 – main point 4 and conclusion

Assessment:
 Content and visual aids (group score)
 Delivery (individual score)

Note:
 Students must have the same partner(s) for both tasks.
Example: A class with 25 students will have 11 pairs and 1 triplet.

Task 1 - Academic Presentation Portfolio (10%)

1. Video record presentation rehearsal in wmv/mp4/avi format and submit it through

Edmodo.
2. Complete the following forms:
 AP Outline Form A (Pair) / B (Triplet) – Task 1 and Task 2
 AP Self-Critique Report 1A (Pair) / 1B (Triplet)
 AP Self-Critique Report 2 (Individual)
3. Type responses using Arial 11, 1.15 spacing.
4. Compile and submit the forms in week 14 in one submission.

Task 2 - Academic Presentation Assessment (30%)

1. Video record the presentation in wmv/mp4/avi format.

2. Use audio-visual aids for the presentation.
3. Duration of presentation:
 Pair : 6 - 8 minutes
 Triplet : 9 -12 minutes

4. Each member must speak during the presentation. Marks will be awarded individually.
5. Submit the presentation video in Week 14 through Edmodo.

7-8  Find a partner.
 Complete AP Outline A (pair) Task 1 / AP Outline B (triplet) Task 1.
 Have it approved by the teacher.
9 Complete AP Outline A (pair) Task 2 / AP Outline B (triplet) Task 2 and get
approval from the teacher.
10 - 11  Video record the presentation rehearsal.
 Submit slides (draft) through Edmodo for teacher’s feedback.
 Submit the recorded presentation rehearsal through Edmodo for teacher’s
feedback.
12 Complete AP Self-Critique Report 1 and 2.

14  Submit the Academic Presentation Portfolio

 Submit the final presentation video through Edmodo.
