Classroom Design and Decorations
Decorations make a classroom inviting. Theme decorating works well and is easy to
maintain.
An example of space theme idea is shown here. Use the theme to put pictures of the children
in a classroom roll call on the wall and a welcome sign on the door with the theme logo.

Classroom Rules
The rules for the classroom will be posted at the front of the room in a clearly visible
location. The followings are the rules for my classroom.
 Treat others as you want to be treated.
 Be kind.
 Use kind words.
 Share with one another.
 Take turns.
Emergency Procedures
The emergency bag must be located in an easily found spot. Keep it complete at all times.
There is a variety of important information that should be posted in a prominent place in
classroom at all times.
 Fire Department phone number
 Police Department phone number
 Hospital (closet to center) phone number
 Children’s allergies
 Names of children currently taking medicine along with medications, amounts, and
times
 Children’s names and birthdates
 School address and phone number

 Diagram of the evacuation plan and route to use in case of emergency
Newsletters
Newsletters are a good way to keep communication active between the parents and center.
Parents feel reassured when they know what lessons and activities are coming for their
children. In this way, the parents are a part of the learning process in the school. Newsletters
are the perfect way to keep them up-to-date.
Following are the guidelines for my center’s newsletters:
 Date
 Greeting
 Introduction
 Dates to remember
 Topic activities
 Songs and words
